Welcome to TW and so sorry about your wreck.

You and I have a similar trajectory. Wrecked my truck. Got a super generous insurance payout. My non-negotiable was a manual. And literally two popped up in my area. Both red (gasp indeed!), both with similar accessories including a tech package, and both almost exactly the same price. The only difference was one was Sport and the other was OR. I decided to go Sport since I didn’t have that trim before.

The BR has definitely grown on me, especially after deciding to black it out on the exterior. The two tone look of black and red is super sharp!!

I found this site about a month ago and am finding several really good ideas! Have fun modding more!!!

Sounds good Frank! I bought our skid plates from a Toyota Dealership in SC called Toyota of Greenville. A fellow Tacomaworld member posted a comment about a good deal they were having a couple of weeks ago and I ended up getting the plates for $297 plus free shipping. I checked their website today and they are currently selling them for $325 plus free shipping which is still better than the $400 that Desert has them listed for.

Here is the website for Greenville and the part number in case you are interested in saving a couple of bucks. Shipping time isn't that bad, I think I got them in less than a week. Remember to enter the Free Shipping code FREESHIP

Thanks for finding that price! The lowest I had found was at Toyota of Salinas for $374 no sales tax plus free shipping. Just purchased it. I'm gonna PM you with my contact info! Can't wait to add this!

Now please stop me from buying more stuff. I beg of you.

What was that last part? Sorry I didn't understand. You want to buy more stuff? Let's see, your truck would look great with some black emblem overlays (I saw the V6 in the rear had one but not the doors), then a black exhaust tip, some predator steps, and finally the big one (that I myself am trying really hard to avoid) the nicer and pricey headlights. Okay Frank, I will stop there, I don't want to get you in trouble with the lady LOL.

Bro - I got all of that except the steps and the LED Headlights.

I soooooooo want them headlights too but the price is ridiculous for the parts! But if I had a co-installer, then maybe!

    And there I go again……………

This has to be the best color. I put my deposit down thinking it's not bad, but once I picked it up yesterday I knew I made the right choice. I originally wanted Voodoo Blue, but found out it wasn't available this year. I actually like the Red better. I thought it would look like the 4Runner Red, but it does seem to be darker and pop more.

The LED lights are worth it. I had them on my 2020 and they are 10 times better, but yeah the price is a little steep. I keep going back and forth on getting them, but my wife doesn't see the need. Of course her Outback has amazing LED headlights and she even commented on how bad mine were driving home from the dealer.

True the short bed is short. But the trade off for me is more room in the back seat for my two dogs. Plus you have to admit the red looks good against a snow backdrop.

I have the same steps. Here’s what they look like up north and why I got aluminum. 1071C752-1E50-41D6-B8B0-42A3E260D4E3.jpg edit: replying to my2ndtacoma

What has actually kept me away from buying them is the fear of taking apart the front bumper. I've heard many stories about other fellow members having trouble putting and realigning the bumper back together. It's also my understanding that the wiring may need to be changed out with the LEDs.

The videos make it look decently easy, but I am sure it will be a pain. A member on here sells a wiring harness for the swap so that will be the easiest part.

It's a bit of a pain but I replaced my lights just fine. You will likely break some of the plastic fender clips (I broke two but not fully and not enough to prevent things from going back together fine). Don't do it in the cold since the plastic will be more brittle and otherwise just take your time and follow a guide.

Yes to this. I'm scared of taking it apart! And you do need a wiring harness. A TW member sells them and labels them very clearly. Chloe Kuo has a great video of her changing them out. I wish I had the guts to do it.

Cool looking bumper. I wish there were some boulders near me. Then I’d have an excuse.

funny you should ask.... Im finished with this one because I just put a deposit down on a 2022 TRD Sport 4x4 in Army Green recently. Its supposed to arrive on the 24th.... But, had I not done this, I was going to get the black TRD wheels with All Terrain tires and either lift the front end 2" or get the TRD lift kit installed. What I have done so far to this is
    1. Sold the OEM black wheels with 245/75/16s and bought the 16" wheels and 265/70/16 tires off a 2021 TRD Off Road
    2. Blacked out all the emblems
    3. Blacked out the interior chrome
    4. Installed LED bulbs on entire exterior, which made a HUGE difference in regards to the brake/tail lights.
    5. Installed the Kicker speaker upgrade
    6. Installed OEM mudflaps
    7. Installed black chrome exhaust extension
    8. Removed the original grille and replaced with the Heritage Grille
    9. Installed the Predator step bar
And, like i mentioned above, my next upgrade was going to be lifting it. But now, since my new truck will be here soon, Im in the process of removing most of that stuff and putting the original parts back on....

The Army Green is a great color! That was my first choice.

But the BR I ended up getting is chili hot!

I have done almost the exact same things to my truck so far (in the four days I've owned it)...
    1. Bought TRD Pro Wheels and 265/75/16 KO2 tires to replace the stock 17" wheels and 265/60/17 tires
    2. Blacked out all the emblems
    3. Blacked out Tailgate
    4. Installed LED Interior Light Kit (can't get the license plate lights off though! My hand is too big for that small space)
    5. Installed black chrome exhaust tip
    6. Got the TRD lift kit, which included the Pro Grille
    7. Added the bed mat which is a beautiful touch

I will be installing the BedStep and the TRD Front Skid Plate soon. Considered adding running steps but likely won't because the lift looks AMAZING and I think any steps would make it look less amazing.

Can't comment on predator steps or similar, but I ran the OEM 5" oval steps for years, with and without a lift. Those steps were amazingly helpful for getting to the roof and for my wife, and I don't think detracted from the look at all. In fact, I kinda miss them (installed sliders).
