Also hosted fan. Don’t get mad but might be getting another project. Looking at it this week. 2007 srt8 jeep with motor problems. Tons of mods for $4200. Smoking deal from a buddy moving away. I just bought a Moroso 85474 but im still trying to find a place for it. Space is a premium on my truck as well so i’ll probably have to move some stuff around. Im also thinking about getting rid of the big ass drain on the bottom and trying to find something a little more subtle

Do it! I had a 2009 WK Hemi and the power it produces is addicting. Tacoma can't touch it

if you put it down low it would be super convienient to drain. min is a PITA to service.

Yeah thats a good point. At first, i thought about running a hose off of the drain permanently and routing it down to the somewhere to make easy to service so all you’d have to do is flip the valve

You might want to try hitting up @Roostfactor . I know he used to do them. If not hit up Hewitt Tech. They definitely have them and should be able to sell you a pair.

1/4 is about nominal for the carrier bearing, but you really don't want to go much more than that. (E.g 1/4 more is starting to get into dangerous territory of too much slop)

Here's a scan of the underhood decal for the first post @12TRDTacoma...maybe add it in the maintenance section

More questions for the group while I try and pull together supporting mods for the install.

Are headers pointless if you're running the factory Y-pipe/cat back? How bad does the 1gfre smell w/o cats? I'm on the fence whether I should go with a Y-pipe (would likely end up with a Spec-U equal length or have something custom built locally) or just run it through the factory Y-pipe and add an intake to my build plans.

I will be installing a fuel pump and a 2.7 quick change pulley.

It's like trying to shove a watermelon through a straw if you leave the factory Y pipe in place. If you do one, do the other.

Also, the 1GR REEKS without the cats. That being said, they are definitely a restriction, so tread how you deem fit.

The stink has me thinking long tubes and an intake is the way to go. Maybe a custom Y-pipe with high flow cats...or drop the coin on Spec-U equal length and butcher it to add a pair of cats.

I would leave at least a pair of cats in. It's not ideal to maximize airflow out of the engine, but it'll definitely save you a few headaches. (Literally) CO poisoning is some pretty heavy duty stuff.

If you do leave two cats in I would recommend running metal substrate cats. This will maximize airflow while still doing some work of emissions burning.

You'll still get solid power out of the truck. I definitely do.

you can run headers with the factory y-pipe. things just arent as good as they can be. i did headers 1st, cat back next, then a great y-pipe. with one cat it stinks but im used to it.

I’d add a cat after the headers and y-pipe if you are gonna add one. Run a tail pipe or if you are gonna chop it, leave it as long as you can and CO won’t be an issue. And or, don’t run the truck in the garage

Ya, I had to grind mine down in order to fit. The Hewitt ones are meant to install on the SAIS side and not the header side.
