Cold issues

Owner of a 2021 SR with 4 cylinder engine purchased December of 2020. Last winter didn't have any issues. I live in south Mississippi so our winters are relatively mild compared to other parts of the country. This winter when the temps drop below approximately 40 the truck accelerates and shifts normally. But for about the first 10 minutes when slowing down to a stop the downshift is extremely hard. And this is even letting the truck warm up 5 to 10 minutes to clear the window of frost.
Truck has 10 thousand miles and this winter is the first time it's done this. Anybody in colder areas have the same or similar issues?

 

Warming the truck up (remote start etc) doesn't warm up tranny temps like it does the engine oil and coolant. It's just chilly where you live (compared to usual) and the tranny needs to warm up. It's totally normal. Take it easy and let your tranny get up to operating temps.

Would like to hear what the dealership says about the cold downshift . You are still on warranty ? Your transmission is the 6 speed automatic ?
Yes , downshifting can be a bit clunky when cold but you are using the word extremely hard ?
Perhaps there is more going on here than just a normal cold functioning trans ?

 

Yes warranty still active and 6 speed auto.
May just pay a visit to the dealer towards the end of the week when i'm off from work. in case they need to keep it overnight and check it. I'll call tomorrow and make apt. just for piece of mind

 

Getting a lot of private messages from 2021 truck owners finding the transmission fluid is low from factory .
A very agressive downshift is a symptom of low fluid when cold .
