    Why are DCLB’s excluded?

Not the factory lift. The website states it’s for 2020 and newer.

If a dealer says it won’t fit it is definitely time for a new dealership!!!!

Modifications are bad and only bad people modify.
I read a lot of people saying it's overpriced and I can get better quality suspension for the money, but I think for people like me who want the grille, a modest lift, retaining the warranty, have the calibration/confirmation of camera and sensors if needed, and an alignment, that it can be a good choice for the money.

That being said, I emailed my local dealer and asked them for a quote on the new(ish) TRD lift and they said:

"I apologize on the delay getting back with you on your requested quote we were closed over the weekend. The price for the new lift parts would be $1,149.95 plus tax. This price includes parts, labor, and an alignment. If you have any other questions please give us a call at..."

There's gotta be something terribly wrong here...

    Take it and run!!!!

(Although they might have accidentally added the parts to that quote)

There's gotta be a mix up. I am thinking that it might not include the pro grille or any of the other things except the struts if labor is included. ~$1250-1300 OTD sounds right just for the whole parts kit. She was probably super busy and overlooked the labor charges.

I am off tomorrow, so I'll take a trip there to confirm the parts on the quote she gave me. I'll report back here. Remember, if it's too good to be true...

The parts department is separate from the service department. That's why I think she quoted installation and labor. The parts alone are $1450 MSRP.

I think you're on the right track. What made me look twice was that she wrote parts and labor. It's got to just be one or the other and like you I'm leaning on labor. If they can beat the first quote I got from a further dealer, I'll probably just end up doing it anyway.

So I have a great story that can't leave here! ;)

There are only two local Toyota dealerships in my town. I was able to get the dealership I purchased my Tacoma from to match the price of the other one, which was $1321. The first dealership said they would do mine for $1300 instead of the $1500 she originally quoted. I was like, ok. I knew it was still overpriced but fine, whatever.

Fast forward to last Friday, the day my brand new truck was ready to be driven off the lot, post-lift installation. I get a text from the service lady and she asked me what we agreed on for the price.

(SUPER LONG PAUSE - I was thinking what would be a reasonable price that she wouldn't question because goddammit I was gonna take the opportunity to get a discount somehow someway!)

I texted her that we agreed on $1200 - and the only thing she asked was did that quote include alignment, which it did.

    She said okay.

Do I feel guilty? Not really. Because the truck was ready 1.5 hours earlier than she originally said, which means installation did NOT take as long as was originally quoted. Should I have said it was $1100 or $1000? Probably, but I didn't want to risk not getting anything additional off.

No man, please don't feel guilty, lol. I think she should have remembered the offer and what you said isn't too unreasonable for the labor. I work at a competing dealership for one of the big three near my 'Yota and think that both parties should focus on what's fair and not try and disregard the law of diminishing returns. A grand or so for labor is fair enough IMO, especially if they agree to honor the 3 year/36k and not just the 1 year.

I think for someone like me (and it looks like you too) that the modest lift, the grille I like, making sure the factory sensors and camera work, an alignment, and the warranty is worth 2000-2500. You can probably recoup about $350 selling the barely used stock suspension and grille too, so it's not that bad. How are you liking your lift anyway?

Yup. Modest lift, the awesome grille, Toyota technician making sure factory sensors and camera works, etc. It ended up being $2473 overall: $1173 for the parts, $100 to ship them to me, and $1200 for the installation/labor.

I'm loving the lift! It just gives the truck a whole other vibe. I even put the fog lights back on myself yesterday. (There's a really great article about why Toyota deletes the fog lights with their lift and how it's a little suspect)

    You'll love it IMO!!

Toyota Salinas (CA) has the parts for $1173. If you put FREESHIP in the coupon code, it'll reduce the $300 shipping charge to $100. And no sales tax.

Awesome man!! I think it looks cool even with the stock wheels/tires, like it's meant to go do a sweet jump over some burning junk cars. I forgot, I was just going to sell my OEM LED fogs too because I got a set of DD Pro Amber fogs waiting after chatting with crashnburn a while back.

I got the idea to take the lift plunge after chatting with Montana Actual on his build thread and he helped convince me to go this route as a beginner, and now you definitely solidified the choice. His truck is one of the best looking I've seen, but I don't think 33s fit with this lift.

I figure that this lift with another set of 32" A/T or M/T tires will get me to 99% of the places I'd like to go, and this along with a tune might be a good starting point for someone getting into the off road world from the tracking some fun RWD cars.

I've chatted with Montana Actual but haven't really looked at his Tacoma. (Now I'm gonna!)

I think 33s are pushing it with this lift. I got 32" and they are sweet looking! They are the A/T KO2's (265/75/16). Side note: I have noticed that with the bigger tires my MPG has gone down by about 1 MPG.

I'm considering the tune (KDMax?) but don't know too much about it. I've read a few articles, seen a few videos, but still don't know too much and wonder if it will truly make a difference. Of course the people here who have gotten it, rave about it!

How much you looking for for the OEM LED fogs? Asking for a friend. ;)

They sure get expensive and heavy when you're getting into those specs. I'm considering getting lightweight wheels/highway tires for a lot of general driving/efficiency, and putting something like your KO2's on my stock wheels for fun/winter/SHTF. I don't know if the juice is worth the squeeze though.

I'm dead set on getting the tune for the fuel economy benefits, but I have a lot of questions too. I know it's sounds silly "because truck", but if I could get 5-10% better MPGs, that'll increase the range by 20-40 miles. I am often in some remote areas, so for me it's a type of insurance/peace of mind than trying to recoup costs, or so I tell my poor wallet...

I don't know, maybe $70 shipped for the fogs or something? I would probably just give them to you if we met in person, with the condition that you cover the next few peoples' orders behind you in the drive through or something.

I am considering getting this as well. However my question is, do they let you keep the old parts? I want to hand them down to a family member since he has a 2022 base 4x4 taco.

Yes the only real difference in mine is the width. That adds a lot of weight though. 265/70R17 and 265/75R16 are about the same and you should be good with any kind of AT like the KO2s, Wildpeaks, Open Country etc etc. It's just a smarter move to stay in that range quite frankly. Lots of good advice here. You are leaning towards the rebel alliance, and I'm on the dark side lol. Stay with the rebellion! You can always go up in size/width later down the road. I'm going all out with a CMR and 295s next time ;)

I got bored and did the math. Stock rims and tires on the TRD OR was about 290 pounds... That's with a spare in the back and probably less since the spare was just a Steelie.
My setup is 430 pounds! That's with a full size spare and rim. So that's something to take into consideration.

The only reason I even considered going that big and bigger is because I knew I was doing gears and a tune (with plans to add weight in the future too).
