Repainted the front differential mounts after I burned out the bushings and before I put in the new durobump ones. Installed my new used 4.56 front diff today.

Got the engine and transmission in the chassis, slid the trans back to replace the rear main seal, got ‘em back together today. Getting ready to replace the timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, etc.

Following! Will probably be going down this path next year sometime.

I have been trying to work out how I would pull this off in a two car garage and this has given me some ideas. I need to see if I can get my hands on some racking cross beams from work!

Thanks to @Black DOG Lila posting this
I’ve been able to identify parts I need to replace more easily, and came across a couple things I wish I’d have known months ago :)
FYI if you’re doing a frame swap or an ABS delete - some of the hard brake lines are no longer available from Toyota individually but can still be ordered as kits put together for the recall frame replacements they did.

    Example:
Got this message from Lakeland Toyota “The part you ordered 4731204080, 4731304120, 4732104070, has been discontinued.”
But then I asked about Brake Tube (Line) Kit 10, p/n 04008-27704 and they have it. It includes all those parts.

Most of the parts kits last I checked were available. I’ll be buying all the ones I need for my 98, the 02 and my fathers 02 this year. Hopefully I don’t clear out stock lol.

his doesn’t need a frame. But he’s assuming “fuck it why, not not be ready”

I have to figure out how I’m going to go about doing my 02 since, well, it has no rocker on the driver side

Ok so I put a new Denso radiator in today, one hole wouldn’t line up - bottom driver side. I got the bolt started with a pry bar and halfway in it snapped. When I took the old radiator out that same bolt snapped, also I cut the passenger frame horn off for another TW member, and noticed it was bent. Long story short my new radiator is touching the frame on the right side and has almost a 1” gap on the left. Fan is centered in the shroud. I’m inclined to say fuck it and send it as is.

Is the body centered on the frame? If you drive around this may lead to a broken rad. The body will flex from the frame and end up putting pressure on that sucker

I believe so. I didn’t have any trouble lining it up. I can measure from the frame rails to the pinch weld on either side and check.

Body is centered on frame. I’m going to modify the radiator brackets and the core support holes and see where that gets me.

The front rad support to frame mounts have steel sleeves inside them. Are both sleeves installed? If one is missing the rad support can sit an inch or so low on one side. Might check that. Sometimes it racks the rad a bit.
