    Tim,

it's interesting what we freely disclose on forums...makes us interesting real people.

Wife had to leave her job at the end of 2021...it was too much frustration/stress and it was affecting her as she vented at home.

That worked out great because as we started our total kitchen remodel, she was able to be home and see the transformation. Now that the dust is just about settling and final payments are being written in check form, she has time to focus on finances.

I'm retired US Air Force and work at local hospital. I'm fortunate that I can provide her with an allowance from my hospital job so that she can continue to add to our retirement nest egg. I'm taking care of the mortgage/utilities/cell phones service/cable+internet/car+home insurance/IRAs/savings/gas for my car. Her outgoings are groceries & gas for her car. So she is able to put away a good chunk of her bi-weekly allowance.

I'm trying to reduce our outgoings in 2022 by getting rid of cable and keeping internet and emptying out our 20X20 storage unit. It's a work in progress but not too much of a pain...except maybe the storage unit...which comes in handy at the moment because that's where my headlights are currently located.

I'll be inspecting both headlights today and take pics/post here...from the storage unit...lol!

Thanks for sharing some personal things about yourself. I guess I'm doing the same thing.

    Ed

Ed, didn’t mean to disparage you, totally understand now why the mods are being kept on the down low! Good on you for keeping the household up and running.
Thank you for your service, can’t wait to see those headlights! You’ve pretty much talked me into it! I definitely need to wait for the warmer weather though.

I don't mean to sound somber...for the most part, it is sunshine and rainbows but lord knows we have had peaks and valleys. We've been married 33 years in March...and I met my wife in Feb 1989 (I was 23 & she was 17 turning 18 same month) That's a long time to be with one person; it's more than half my life!

We had to work through finance arrangements; our joint agreement is to have a year's worth of savings to pay for our monthly outgoings plus anything extra we can add. The goal is $40K in Savings. We are just about halfway there and by end of 2022, we should be darn close!

Thank you for recognizing my service...those 25 years in the USAF helped shape my leadership & work ethics/integrity. I'll never forget a Chief of MX (Maintenance) once told me, if you can work in a MX Fighter Squadron, you can work anywhere. He wasn't kidding...and I realize the fruits of my labor every day because no civilian job will ever compare to the Ops Tempo of a flightline.

Well, I'm sure Sparks Parts & Chloe & Dave (Harness) are happy to hear you want this upgrade. When I called the dealership I bought my truck at, the Supply/Tech suggested I trade in my truck for one with OEM LEDs...after saying it's a $4K upgrade!!!

I've got some photos to take at the storage unit after work today and inspect these headlights. My goal is to do this on Thursday at the Auto Hobby Shop on DAFB...Lord willing.

Speaking of High Ops Tempo...in a civilian sector...

A young female x-ray tech in Cath Lab came to my desk bawling her eyes out this late morning. I had brief discussion with her at 7am about product shortages she told me they needed for first case.

She's kinda was handed over a program that a dedicated specialist just vacated because she too, was feeling the ungratefulness of the specialty job in this department.

Anyway, during the case (as happens all the time) there were products needed that the young tech did not know were needed. I stress..."did not know they were needed".

Such as it happens in procedure rooms, when the doctor asks for something and everyone looks at each other for a "WTF moment", finger pointing takes place. Well, the young tech was the target!

I gave her my sympathies and told her, these people were just looking for a way to deflect and not take responsibility for a shortfall THAT IS A DEPARTMENT FAILURE.

Sorry to go off track but as this just happened and I referenced it in my reply above, I felt compelled to document it.

I gotta get outta here and go inspect my headlights!!!

Got my TRD Pro LEDs from Modern Toyota for a little under $1200 shipped in December. I doubt they are this price any longer, but may want to keep an eye out for sales.

    Thanks for paying attention fellas!

I'm gonna call Base Auto Hobby Shop this am and see if I can reserve a Bench Stall $3/hr for tomorrow.

    WooHoo!

BTW, I am gonna loosen the wheel-well panel today (10mm Bolt & Plastic Screw) that hold the front corner together so it won't be so tough to take off on Thursday.
The rest of the connections are simpler to remove. I want to do this in a timely manner but not take too much time.

I ordered my new Led headlights from Sparks Parts as well. They were about $300 cheaper than a dealership I found in Missouri. Also ordered the harness from Johnny.

Well, I started with the fender bolt & plastic screw to remove molding...this is the step after removing the grill...which needs to be done first.

It's good to have the grill off so you can see the inside fender and press the release tabs that hold the wheel molding in place.

Heck, after I finagled with it, I couldn't line the plastics back together the way they were. lol

This is a tedious task that requires patience. I'm not mad...how could I be...I broke a tab myself. lol

For those thinking about doing this, it really requires patience with the plastics.

Take before pics to so you have a reference point to put it back together.

I'm not doing this as planned tomorrow.

I didn't do a whole lot of research before disassembly. :rofl:It was more flying by the seat of my pants and kind of in the moment when I did my headlight conversion. I did watch portions of Chloe's video and parts of this one from Jesse Rizo to figure out how to separate the bumper cover from the fenders so I could access that one bolt with a ratchet. Jesse's video was slightly more helpful with that.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqpt_b6baLM

It seems like a lot of pieces, but it's really not bad. Keep your take off parts in a box or something so you don't lose them. I labeled a few plastic sandwich bags and put pieces in them accordingly, but it wasn't really necessary. Also, put some painters tape over the headlights during install and leave it on until you get the bumper cover back in place so you don't accidentally scratch them.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Yes I 2nd that if I can be of any assistance let me know , pm me or whatever and I will try to help in anyway I can thru pics or directions or something. It seems a little overwhelming and it’s scary when the plastic sounds like it all breaking but you need to wait till you got time this is not rush a job No gripping and ripping!

I PM'd you, Eric. Send me a text and I'll save your contact info.

I've got the parts guy, Lou from Prestige Toyota (NY) getting a price for a driver's side fender flare.

All is not lost. I may have hurt my pride but that's mendable...lol!

    More to follow.

Good Point on being able to see the tab from the inside and then pressing to release!

As Eric & Chloe have said, removing the fender flare is the most difficult part of this task.

Thanks for the concern fellas. I'll be ok once I pick my pride back up off the floor! lol

Got them installed. Took me 2hrs at the Auto Hobby Shop on DAFB but I got it done.

$6/hr is reasonable time for stall with/without lift. The $3/hr for bench stall on the website is an error.
