Charlotte, NC area: hate on OP, houses, boats & hoes

Or just a love of things mechanical. I think my most expensive watch is $80. But luxury watches are investments usually.

 

Anyone have recommendations for window tint and PPF in the Charlotte area? I want to tint the front windows of my taco, and I need to tint my bmw m2 too and maybe get ppf on the front bumper.

Anyone have strong opinions if PPF is worth it?
I am kind of paranoid about tinting windows; I don't want to have them tinted and it be a PITA to pass inspection. Any thoughts? I have been thinking about tinting to the legal 35% but feel like I want 20% for it to be worth the money.

NC is cracking down, so unless you have "a guy" who will pass the dark tint, you'll be replacing it every year (if you do have a guy lemme know, I'm a year overdue)

Beleive AD's cannot sell for more than retail, from my understanding. The prices are on Rolex website.

 

I have used Sun Stoppers in Concord for several vehicles.

 

I've used them in the past too, with no issues. They recently switched away from SunTek brand and upped their prices though. They now offer Xpel films.

That’s who I used. Did a good job and it’s held up.

 

Sun Stoppers did my Tacoma over 6 years ago with SunTek CXP and it still looks great. I went with 3M ceramic on my GX though.

 

I'm a gshock fan myself too.

 

I have had this one for 6 years. Never take it off and I just now had to replace the band.

 

I don't even wear the factory bands.

I've had the original rangeman since it came out like what 9-10 yrs ago. Also have v1 mudmaster. Looking for an OG frogman

 

I have a Suunto Core somewhere. I like it a lot but battery life sux.

 

RE: tint in NC

I had 20% on my E36 and loved it, would do it again all over - it was non/metallic white with black limo tint, looked $$
I put legal 35% on my E82 b/c it is Spacegrey and it looked decent..
I am thinking about doing the Taco but will probably keep it legal b/c it is dark AF out where I live

It was 100% a PITA to get the E36 inspected
The fines for the inspectors are like 10K per infraction so it is a/lot to ask of them to just pass it these days..

But screw the NC 'inspection' system..
It is horse manure - doesn't do jack shit to make sure cars are 'safe' on the road etc..


My taco tags expired about 6 months back - I had to get it inspected once to do the title transfer; same on the E82.
My E82 has tags that expired in 2015 -
I used to [pre/pandemic] park at the RDU airport for weeks at a time, no tickets, no notes, nada; I drive toll roads regularly
I have a disabled tag/plate and a valid hang tag - literally as visible as it could be, anywhere and everywhere..

My neighbor is a State Trooper - he hasn't said jack in the two+ years he has lived across the street - I know he has seen my plates..

I have had four cops get behind me with the presumed intention of stopping me - one time I was legit speeding 80 in a 55; another time they got the Lexus next to me.. Each time, I held my breath but they left me alone..
I guess stopping a middle age white lady isn't that much fun?

At 7+ years expired, I deserve to be caught/a ticket/whatever - not arguing that..

I feel, the risk of getting busted on this is pretty freaking low
And then the fix is - go get it inspected, go to court, show that you passed inspection, they will toss the ticket [it is a 280$ ticket FYI] & you can re/register the car for whatever the annual fee is for your vehicle if you really wanna comply..

It is all about your tolerance for these kinds of semantics..

you might want to read up on this - maybe how it affects resale down the line..
My partner has this crap on his M/Coupe and while it might save a few paint chips, when it comes off, there will be some paint fade differences, the removal of it is horrible and I think it looks like crap; i hate seeing the seams..
plus now there are a few chips on the hood but none on the nose where the PPF is/was - just doesn't look right no matter how I look at it..

 

The whole NC inspection is nothing but a gimmick. I need to just register my vehicles in Montana at @memario1214 home address.

 

New this is correct, preowned is whatever market price is. I think retail they’re like 7ish, preowned they’re around 10, they’re going to go up shortly, I’m guessing they’re being retired end of march.

 

I like modern but vintage is always preferred for me. This is my 1972 Submariner.
