Bro... I so wish I had a quote of $700! They quoted 10 hours install (which I KNOW is BS) and included the alignment for $1500. They matched another local dealership and I got them to go down another $100. The install with alignment cost me $1200. With the parts being $1173 plus $100 shipping, the total cost was $2473. But man, $700 for install! Yay for you!

Not an expert at all, but I would call like a Discount Tire to verify. It appears it would work because it's just over 32" in diameter. And I think with the lift, you'll have the clearance.

I remember you mentioning the numbers earlier and I thought, man if I can get in that neighborhood I'm just going to do it and get it over with. 10 hours is ridiculous! I think Toyota says 4-6? Average per hour is something like $125-150. My thoughts going in were that a decent tech can do one corner per hour, an hour for the pro grille/confirm the sensors and tie up any other loose ends, and maybe an hour for an alignment, so six hours seemed reasonable to me.

I got another quote for just under 2700 but that dealer was an hour's drive away. I'm pretty stoked!

YES!!! That is EXACTLY what she quoted. 10 hours @ 150 per hour. I wish I would have said that Toyota Corporate says it's a 4-5 hour job. But I know she would have came back with some stupid crap. So I'm happy I got what I got especially the $100 off because she forgot what she quoted me.

EDIT: On another note... they did replace my millimeter wave sensor. I also know the lift kit comes with a MWS. They must be different fits depending on the grill. I so want to sell the original MWS (that came with the Sport) because it's like $500 MSRP.

I would definitely be happy with what you got too. After reading here, it seems like with a lot of people, dealers always manage to finagle it around the $2500 price point lol.

In the back of my mind was I was hoping they wouldn't be like, "Hmmm, this is a somewhat professional looking 30something guy in a new vehicle who appears to have disposable income and no wedding band. LETS HOSE 'EM!!!"

I forgot the kit comes with a MWS, I wonder what the difference from what we have stock is? One thing that I didn't consider much until after talking with you was that we could get about $500 back or more selling the pull-offs.

I'm thinking a tune and a set of the lightest/strongest wheels I can find are next up on the list. What is your, or anyone else who's reading plan?

Yes, I personally think they will fit. What offset? Let us know if they rub, was thinking this size next.

I was wondering the same thing about the MWS. Clearly it's a different part specifically for the Pro Grill.

I am strongly thinking about the KDMax tune, but still have lots of questions. The next on my list is removing the air dam and adding on the TRD Front Skid Plate. I've already ordered the part and it shipped today from South Carolina.

I just got the lift done and looking at the same size wheels 17x8.5 and tire size but considering KO2’s. What wheels are you putting on? It would be great to see pics when done.

IN RE: Millimeter Wave Radar sensor included in TRD Lift Kit

Found this article on Toyota.com (https://www.toyota.com/racing/trd/news/2021/trdusa-feature---tacoma-trd-lift-kit) about the TRD Lift with the following quote:

"One of the crucial reasons the Tacoma TRD Lift Kit is superior to aftermarket products is the new Millimeter wave radar sensor and grille that enables integration with the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) system. This system supports several features on the Tacoma, including Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection. Essential to that is the Millimeter wave radar sensor itself, which is constantly scanning in front of the vehicle. If you were to add an aftermarket lift kit, that sensor would raise the height, resulting in an incorrect calibration.

The Tacoma TRD Lift Kit includes a new grille with a new mounting location for the Millimeter wave radar sensor that keeps everything in proper alignment. It may sound simple, but it required precise measurements, development time, and dynamic evaluations everything works as intended after lifting your truck so you can stay secure and enjoy all the features of your ride."

The bolded part is why I ultimately decided on the OEM lift. I didn't want to F up the calibration. So, I feel much better knowing this. And it also makes complete sense why Toyota included this new MWR sensor with the kit. Also explains the price of the parts a little bit better.

Well it looks like I am one of the unlucky ones. Bought the truck (TRD OR) on Friday and I got the TRD lift installed today. It does have a much better stance now, but the ride is much firmer and I have some vibes. I figured it would be a little firmer, but when I had 5100s on my Frontier they were not this stiff. My drive home was a little over an hour and it never felt smooth no matter the condition of the road. The vibes are always noticeable and it felt like it got worse as I was slowing down and then getting back up to speed. I checked the spring perches because I have seen some with them upside down, but those were good. I did shift into 4Hi on a back road and the vibration was still there, but I didn't do it for long because I wasn't off road.

How would you all with the lift installed say it rides? I have read this all 113 pages and most say it is better than stock or a little firmer and more planted. I feel like it is too firm and I can feel every imperfection in the road. The worst was when I would drive over the little bridges and it felt like my old Nissan Xterra bouncing.

I came from a JL Wrangler that I would never say drove smooth. The Truck felt like a luxury car in comparison when I drove it home Friday, but now it feels worse than the Wrangler. Going to call the dealer tomorrow, but wanted to get some feedback from the community to make sure they attack the problem correctly.

Have you checked the PSI of the tires to ensure they are not overinflated, which is typically from dealerships at time of purchase.

Yeah they were at 32 when I purchased and 29 when I got it back from the lift.

I get no vibes and it rides slightly firmer compared to my stock sport suspension with my oem lift. I find the ride perfectly comfortable. Sorry you’re struggling. I would have the dealer look at it again to make sure everything is installed correctly. Maybe another alignment?

For the members who have had the lift for a little bit, how do you like it? Pros/Cons?

I was able to have the dealer throw in the lift into the final price of the vehicle ($2400 with installation). The lift still hasn’t come in and I’m second guessing it now, but unfortunately, I don’t think the dealer will refund the money being I already paid for in the price of the truck.

I mainly wanted it for the look, but i had my ko2s and 17” pro wheels out on yesterday and that drastically improved the look over stock wheels. Gotta love being indecisive.

I love mine! But I think I did it to give the Sport trim a level up. You have the OR which already seems to sit a bit higher.

Not gonna lie, it was pricey (mine was about the same as yours). I purchased it because I paid essentially MSRP for the vehicle and had some extra dough to add upgraded wheels, tires and the lift.

I think it’s worth it, but if you’re having second thoughts, I’d at least bring it up to the dealer. They haven’t physically put anything on yet, right? The parts are likely still in their parts department. And the installation costs haven’t happened yet. So maybe you can get your money back.

Driving to work today it felt much better so I think it may have needed some time to settle and smooth out.

I say go for it. Worst case you are covered for 3/36 if it does have any issues

My truck road a little bumpy for the first few drives after installing the lift kit, but has felt great ever since it settled in. As good as stock IMO.

The stance is just much better with the lift, and the vintage grille is a million times better looking than the factory OR grille. I also appreciate the peace of mind knowing the TSS sensor is perfectly calibrated.

100% would do it again. I paid ~$2,000 all in.

Tell them that you want a refund for the $2400 because you paid for something you don't have.

Talk direct with the sales manager. Don't ask, tell them you want a refund and be firm about it.
