I had a 2016, which I owned from 2016 - 2019. It was a good truck and I sold it because I didn’t feel like I needed it much at the time, and wanted something more fun to drive. The 2016 was a sky silver Limited 4wd (I payed $38,551). I took it to the same dealership I’ve purchased my 2016, 2019, and 2022 from and they gave me $35,000 for it with 45k miles. With the money I bought a 2004 SVT Cobra Mustang and pocketed the rest. I then found out I still really need a truck, so I went back and bought a Barcelona Red 2019 TRD OR 4wd which I also had no issue with. I paid $36,915 for it and drove it about 9,200 miles and traded it in in 2021 for a 2022 TRD OR. They gave me $39,000 so it was stupid not to get the new one, since I only ended up paying around $800.

The 2019 was the one I was going to keep long term, but I literally made money driving it.

Definitely a option. Probably what I’m looking at if the 2nd gen market doesn’t change.

$13,500 for a 2013 Regular Cab 4x4 w/ 100k back in December. I’ve since spent a few k on various extras, nerf bars, tonneau, seat cover, hood guard, mats, wheels etc…now I just need time to install some of this stuff. :(

If I could find a deal like that I’d be stoked. I really want a regular cab, but all the ones near me are $20,000+, or rusty, or very high mileage.

Bought in March 2018. 2013 BRM TRD Sport DCSB with the shell! After driving it home it had 54k miles - all for 25k. I would recommend dig till you find a gem & then pay the $$. Just don't go "underwater" on your car loan!!!

    My Used Truck Purchase Rules:

Check Rust (that's why online shit sucks.)

    Always a 1 owner.

    Check Toyota Owners website beforehand.

Ask if you can take the truck for a pre-purchase inspection @ a dealer ($100 - Its A Must!)

Never do a loan with prepayment penalties for paying it off early & or paying extra to the principal. You must ask & get it in writing.

I feel like the truck you should've gotten to match your Stang would have been a 2003 F150 SVT Lightning, but finding one not beat to shit would be hard and one in good condition would fetch over $50k by now.

    Proud new owner of a 2011 double cab, 4x4, V6, >>>6MT<<<, TRD Sport…
    For 19.5k

Best price by far for a Tacoma that I could find for a pre-update 2nd gen in the New England area.

edit: 97k miles, 2 owner, 0 accidents, and it has been undercoated since new when sold near the Canadian border in NY

Even though it was proofread, somehow I missed a major price factor SMH
97k miles. They wouldn’t budge on price, but upped my trade in to what I wanted.

    Hello,

I'm on the verge of purchasing a 2010 Tacoma Double Cab Long Bed, V6, SR5, 2wd, autotragic. Currently has just under 89k on the odometer. It's my Father-in-laws truck that he has owned since new. I think blue-book is right at 17,600 give or take. New tires. Well maintained. Completely 100% bone stock.

I'm on the fence because 2wd. My plan is that if I do purchase it, I'd drive it for about a year and then give it to my son when he turns 16. He's now 15.

    17 -17,500 seems fair, right? I live in 95037.

Having looked nationwide for a 4x4 model and seeing the large prices, I broadened my search to include 2wd… private sale and knowing the 1 detail oriented owner- that is certainly a winning combo for a prime candidate in this market. That is, of course, if you can do without 4x4

Thanks for the reply. I'm not too concerned about 4wd vs 2wd. When I was first married 20 plus years ago we had a 1995 4Runner. We used the 4wd... maybe 2x. I was just thinking it might be fun for my son. Maybe do a minor lift with some wheels/lights/etc. Lifting a 2wd may just be a poser move. That said a 2wd may be safer on the pocket book in the long run. ;)

Dad took great care of the truck. He's only getting rid of it because the Dr/State revoked his license. :(

It's pure white with a hard bed cover. It will be replacing my 2012 Acura TSX Wagon that I'm giving to my daughter.

That would have been cool, but it’s not the best fit for my needs. It’s 2wd and it tows less than a Tacoma. Definitely more fun factor in some ways, but also worse fuel economy.

Remember resale value for a 2wd isn’t much. I’d still buy it though!!

I absolutely scored in 2015 Purchased a 2008 Tacoma SR5 Sport Package 2WD Long Bed with 22K miles on it for 22K. The truck was in showroom condition. Purchased from a guy in the Bay Area of CA who drove a work truck all week and drove this occasionally on the weekends. Only reason for selling it was he wanted a newer model.
