dude you have no idea how cracked out and paranoid these dudes are. It's legit like explain to someone why the vaccine isn't a bill gates mind control chip.

I don't know of a single sane individual that would go back to a gas car after driving an EV (especially a Tesla).

Guys forget the EV debate, it's over. I would be more worried about not even being able to legally drive yourself soon. Insurance companies might charge us so much more money as a human driver once they see how safe full self driving cars are. Ask one of your friends with a Tesla (with FSB beta) and test it out with them. Very very close to saying "yup, robots are going to win" . Even my cheap ass free autopilot works most of the time (and that's just "fancy cruise control").

    pishhhhh..

get into a Tesla model Y,P or model 3,P

fun fact... the lame ass ford engineers only gave the mach e "max power" (450HP) for 5 seconds at a time lol.... that's like in Mario Kart , when you hit that turbo button , and it only lasted for a few seconds . Guess they didn't think battery thermal management was important. My co-worker got one and I was trying so hard to not tell him "what the hell are all these buttons for?". Also that Mach E comes with some pizza cutter thin tires (to save range) and weighs way more than the tesla. The only logical reason to get that over a tesla is if you are saving a lot of money, which is not likely cuz ford dealers charge way over MSRP (not like just buying it all online using Tesla.com)

Oh, yeah things will be pretty bad at that point. I don't think we will see gas at $10.00 a gallon, there's no good reason for gas to go that high.

This is actually a good idea. Kinda like a toll road. Maybe not drive by, but pull over, park for 5 minutes and drive another 300 or so miles to the next charge rail. You get a photograph taken of your plates and the bill is sent to the address and person they're registered to.

NYPD has ordered close to 200 Mach Es, I don't think they have ordered any Tesla products to date.

The reason is that the people who control the petroleum made our infrastructure the way it is so that everything comes from them. Now that a lot more places have petroleum and they don't control it as well they're looking for other ways to have control, EX: Lithium

Makes sense …. Old school inefficient government. Prob still uses fax machines.

So anyways, what did you think about the tesla vs ford mach e when you drove both ?

Any kind of wireless charging is hugely inefficient and has massive losses in transmission.

As far as a 12 hour road trip goes, I think in the fastest charging vehicles today, you could probably do a 12 hour trip in about 13.5 hours. Still a big increase, but not insane.

Here in AZ everyone runs ac in the summer. Oddly enough not recently for my area, but we would have rolling blackouts pretty regularly throughout the summer. So I can believe it.

I have not driven either vehicle. I haven't any real interest in driving an EV. I think the Hyundai Ioniq 5, is the best looking EV. I think the less luxurious oriented EVs are more appealing.

Well it wouldn't happen overnight like the blackouts in texas did. Utilities are keenly aware of EV adoption rates and are incentivizing them because it helps them sell more electricity.

It's a catch-22, the power companies are not going to upgrade the grid until the demand is there pushing their needles into the red, and consumers are looking for reasons like infrastructure not being ready as a defense to avoid using today's technology.

Car companies and cities/states that have put deadlines on the implementation of EV's know the writing is on the wall and it is only a matter of time before someone comes out with an all electric RAV4/CR-V type crossover for 30k.

Same trip from SF to SLC a couple years ago

This is the route I took and approximately how long it would take to drive it. 11 hr 31 min, but I drove pretty flat out for big portions of it and hit zero traffic. Trip time would have been closer to 11 hours, but I stopped for about an hour total to get gas, pee, and hit the mcdonald's drive thru. Call the trip 12 hrs.

    Screen Shot 2022-02-08 at 3.58.24 PM.jpg

Now take that same trip and use A Better Route Planner to map it out in a Hyundai IONIQ 5 and it's surprisingly close on time. Drive time is at 11:16 and it says it will take 1:43 mins to charge on the trip. Driving electric adds 3 stops, but I actually had to stop to pee 3 times on the truck trip without getting gas so I'll chalk that up as just 1 extra stop1. So imagine I suddenly learn to drive without a lead foot and the drive does take me a total time of 13 hours, that's only an hour difference to my truck and it cost me a grand total of $0.00 thanks to the free charging on Electrify America!

    Screen Shot 2022-02-08 at 4.07.07 PM.jpg

Things to note... most people find A Better Route Planner to be a little conservative on the estimations, so this might be even faster or I might get to skip a charging stop. And I highly doubt that switching from a Tacoma to a crossover SUV that can accelerate 0-60 in 4.7 seconds will lead to me driving efficiently, so I bet the range is going to take a hit on the EV...

Jetliners have had autopilots for decades, yet licensed, well trained pilots are still required in the cockpit. The issue is that software is written by humans, therefore it's always going to have flaws, and the liability would be huge.

Robots do not need to consume goods and/or services, therefore corporations will make sure that robots don't win, else said corporations would go under. In other words, corporations need humans to have jobs, so that they can afford to buy crap from them.

The Tesla is faster but the ford feels more like a regular vehicle. Both are very nice and have pro's and cons, like a mach e $50k and tesla is $65.
