state troopers are the only jurisdiction around my way, I’ve seen them like DUI stops. They aren’t worried about small timers like me anyhow. Like I said I’ve already paid plenty of taxes in my state and the money I’m buying the fuel with was already taxed as well. This is one small way to try and even my scales a hair with Uncle Sam.

Worst case I just tell them my truck identifies as a gasoline engine and its pronouns are C8H18. That seems to work to get men in the woman’s bathroom so it should get me out of a ticket

"...only another 350 ft to clear..." -- :bananadead:

I had a propane water heater for years, Amerigas  was the supplier. They not only let me run out several times (automatic delivery, eh?) but were rude and slow to respond about it. I was a customer (ha!) for more than 20 years and they never even sent me a calendar.

I just found an old bill yesterday, in January of 2014 I was paying $4.929/gallon + $0.235/gallon in fees = $5.164/gallon.

When I inquired about the price they assured me "I was getting the middle rate" (water heating), I replied "oh good, there is one even higher..."

    Electric water heater now. :)

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I would think a spreader on one of those fancy vehicles for sand or cinders would help the driveway

I give up on the Frozen river that is my drive way I can get out if I need to or wait things out for a month or so.

We're in no rush to clean it all - I have a spreader that I used for salt in the past but it's more of a mess maker than it's worth. I have it cleared on te hill so we can get in and out without problems. I'll work on the rest as the weather gives me opportunities.

Ah, ok. I think they were calling it JB-Willowgrove, but not any more. Once the designated JB-MDL, that was pretty much it for WG. It a shame. They still have those killer aircraft out by the road there. I hope they don't end up scrapped.

That's actually a museum that's open to the general public; Those aircraft aren't going anywhere!

And I'm guessing the 4th amendment doesn't apply to fuel tanks?

It’s just the same law as a DUI, they have right to pull you over and ask. I don’t believe it’s an unreasonable search request given it’s illegal to use offroad diesel in a vehicle that’s registered for on road use.

What I'd be more worried about than the law is fucking up my engine; I talked to diesel truck guys at various shows, and I've been told that pre-emissions diesel trucks like 1994-1997 Powerstrokes and 12V Cummins can run on heating oil, but that newer trucks like 24V Cummins, 1999-2003 7.3L Powerstroke, and the 6.0L Powerstroke can't run on anything but highway diesel fuel.

offroad diesel is no different than normal, and it’s not the same as heating fuel. It will do no harm in any diesel pre emissions or not.

So why is it illegal to use it in on-road vehicles?

Part of the cost you pay at the pump is road tax - this money is used for maintenance of public roads. (in theory at least ;))
If you buy off road fuel the road tax isn't included because you are on using it on private property and not using public roads when burning the fuel, mowing or plowing snow for example.
