Im wondering whats the best cleaner I should use..... and should I pour the cleaner in before or after I fill up my tank? I know to most people its probably common sence but I have just heard a few people tell me different things. But none of them has a tacoma. BTW I have a 2005 tacoma 2 wheel drive double cab

Lucas Fuel System Cleaner.. its like a yellowish color in a clear bottle..Thick as shit, especially in winter... but the best i have found! i also use a quart od Lucas oil stabilizer in place of 1 qt of oil on every oil change for everything we own. Also id look into Techron. I think its a new fuel system cleaner.. my buddy works on the BMW racecars and shit and he says theres been alot of big write ups on the Techron. "Supposedly" the best out right now... for me, i stick with my Lucas!

really though, most (or maybe all) of these " engine cleaners or fuel system treatments are really just a gimmick. what about our parents cars with 250k on the clock and still running strong? i bet most of those cars never saw any goofy additive or cleaning agent. just my $0.02. that being said, i myself use seafoam once a year in all cars i own and use it as well in my small engines, too.

Put it in before you fill up so it'll mix.

Parafin is the additive that matters.. and i think my neaighbor once told me that the lucas ttreatment is like pure parafin. not 100% sure thought ill have to ask him about that. as for small engines(weedwacker, lawnmower, pressure washer, 4-wheeler) the ethanol is killing them. plus now theyre trying to put higher amounts in the gasoline. i use 93 in every small engine with Sta-Bil ethanol treatment in every jug.. made a HUGE difference in my Honda 400EX!!

I just follow the manual. It says don't use it.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I open engines quite a bit. I've tried them out when I've bought a used car that runs rough or something, never did crap. As far as prevention? Eh.. don't believe it does anything, and neither does anyone in the business that isn't selling it.

I am going to be sooo glad the Chrome CR-48 Notebook wont have a caps lock key :D.

And a thing about the lucas, it says it "improves" MPG. I doubt that, if it does, it does very minimally. Because i never noticed a big drop/increase in MPG.

Ethanol is supposed to be a drier fuel, so I bet there is value in occasionally adding an additive. Its also supposed to help break up carbon deposits and gumming, and on fuel injection engines, its probably good maintenance to do every now and then.

Not 'cause Techron's an injector cleaner (which it does)...but 'cause it cleans combustion chamber deposits and valve deposits. The only one on the market I know of that does.
