What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Body is finally on the frame!
When I took this all apart I put the transmission in neutral, just before I lowered the cab down I replaced the transfer shift boot, and in the process accidentally moved the transmission shifter into park. I pressed the brake pedal (no pressure, lines not connected yet) and turned the key on, but I can’t move the shifter back to neutral. Do I need battery power for it to move?

 

There is another possibility. He cleaned all the gunk out of the TB bore. Air could be getting past the butterfly.

 

If you cut the L-shaped connector right down the L-joint (the right angle), you can just press the respective ends onto the back of your USB charger. Works great.

Edit:

• on the actual cig lighter, Green+Red is positive, White+Black is negative.
• on the two lower power outlets, Red+Blue is positive, White+Black is negative.

 

SPCs are listed under Mevotech on rock auto for a fair price. They might not be the latest version but are still solid. I'd go that route, but I don't particularly enjoy inhaling rubber fumes.

That might lead to more ignorance from the alignment shop even though it makes it easier.

 

Have you tried to use the little shifter release button on the shifter base?

I'm curious what they mean by the leaf springs being 'twisted'. How does it drive after the new rear end work was done?

 

I did that and ended up having to buy a used TB on ebay. At least now I have a spare to send to maxbore if I need

 

Ya maybe I could even hopefully get one for cheaper from a yard and send mine into maxbore.

 

It was causing the driver's side to sit like 1" higher (measuring from the bed mount just behind the cab). Opposite of the typical Taco lean. Truck was T-boned directly on the rear axle. Shackle hangers were bent slightly but I think I corrected those.

It rides alright, but it did as well before I swapped axles. It would drive 'straight', but with the ass end pulling to one side. I'm not sure exactly how to describe it.

 

Maxbore is amazing and worth every penny. But you still must have a correctly functioning IAC to have a reasonable idle.

 

Have you had the frame checked out? I would be more concerned about the frame being tweaked than it having anything to do with the rear axle or leaf springs given the t-bone accident.

 

i just did that a bit ago. Its not super fun, but not too bad either if you drop the spare tire and crawl under there.

SPCs aren't too bad, but the shop might not like those either..

Is that what it's called? I had my brother drive it while I drove his vehicle behind and it didn't pull right or left, but it looks like the truck is slightly diagonal to the driving path. Steering wheel was at like the 2 o'clock position, but after the work I did, it sits more at about the 1230-1 o'clock
