I'm kind of hoping EsotericOne actually hires you at $200/hr and you show up every day, but only after 8 beers.

That would prove someone's point here, I'm just not sure which.

Alternatively: They stuck with it and learned to skill up, overcome failure, etc. until they were *also* good at it.

Either way (or both), I have to agree that it's a disservice to children for them not to understand high v low competency and the consequences thereof.

Been fun, but it's 1:36 in the AM and I am tired.

Thank goodness I don't have to work tomorrow, especially in the trades.

    Night.

What if. And I might be crazy here. What if....

We had a society where everybody could get the education they needed for free to the limits of their ability

And what if..... what if...we had a .gov that helped the dumb kids and the smart kids find roles in society where they were compensated fairly so they found that their work was valued and needed in society.

And, this is a stretch. What if.............If you lost your job because you were injured and got a cancer diagnosis you wouldn't have go bankrupt for medical care.

Lunacy, right? lmao. What would it cost us? like 2 aircraft carriers? Stupid plan

What happens when you have 1.5 million 24 year olds with gender studies or art history degrees? You transfer the buck from no qualified workers because they don’t exist to no qualified workers because they’re not paid enough to no qualified workers because they’ve chosen a different field. It could be they never could be qualified because their entire academic foundation is flawed.

I Think of it like an NFL quarterback. No matter how much money you have you can’t buy a Tom Brady because he’s not there. If you had a degree called “NFL Quaterback” (which arguably we do in the sense of division one quarterbacks around college have a chance to become an NFL quarterback) you still might not have a single qualified employable graduate in a given year. All the money in the world can’t create the next Tom Brady.

Doesn't Tom Brady have all the money in the world and a supermodel wife? He might be working on creating the next Tom Brady (jr.)

If HAM was banned...I bet $4.32 that that IS Ham...Same poor grammar already...

Did HAM get banned as part of the penny stock crackdowns? Or did he NOT get banned and run away because of the crackdowns...

These are generalities that no one ever opposes. The problem is everything is simple until you dig into the details.

Who decides what education is "needed"? Who decides what the limits are on ability? If you are 0.5 points below threshold on the aptitude test for carpentry and its your life dream are you denied the opportunity out of protocol?

These conversations get deep and muddy fast.

In practice, you're mostly talking here about farming out responsibility (and blame) from the individual to some external actor. That's psychologically satisfying (It's not MY fault things are the way they are, it's the SYSTEM that chose for me!), but tends to lead to disagreements between the individual and the system over value and need. A great current example is when your health insurance provider denies coverage for some care procedure you feel is necessary. They have taken over responsibility for payment and decision making and most people have some level of complaint about it.

Same with zoning for housing. In theory (and often practical reality) it's a product of community-elected representatives determining the "needed" limits on construction in an area...and who do not have the interests of price sensitive potential homebuyers as their top concern.

"Fair compensation"? "Valued work?" Who decides the objective measurement of these things?

Of all these concerns the medical costs are likely most tractable. There are a lot of good ideas out there on how to get people care without life-ruining costs. But any process put in place, public or private, would still be imperfect. Because not everyone is capable of being in good health.

He was suspended a couple weeks ago when he started popping off about the boys from LI's mother. He started doing it again earlier in the week. I don;t think it had anything to do with the penny stock thing.

If you want to don your tinfoil hat, he was also telling everyone to dump TD because they buy in FTDs.
