You haven't seen @CaygeonRunner's soft-close rear hatch? No slamming the tailgate like us proletariat.

Speaking of bumpers and smashing into shit, does anyone have some first hand experience with how something like this handles a deer strike? Driving upwards of 6000km a month right now, lots at night, and I find myself wanting some protection against deer. I'm often in pretty remote areas and well, already totaled my GM hitting a deer. I don't really care about saving the truck, just don't wanna be stranded in fuck all nowhere (I just want to make it home, basically).Would this do it, or should I just bite the bullet and go full ARB and some stiffer front springs. Deer is going to fly right into the grille, you can build larger hoop going all the way up.

The grill and/or the sides will get munched. The only chance you have at stopping a deer from causing any damage is with a full bumper, preferably steel and with hoops and even then there is a chance you are still probably in for some minor damage.
I had plans to go this route, and after taking hit on the front corner (not protected) i decided to spend the money and just go for a full bumper.
The better/cheaper option might be investing in lights so you can avoid it altogether, but that isn't a perfect solution either, especially on the highway with oncoming traffic around.

Lights are definitely a biggie. Mine have paid for themselves many times over. Lookin’ into a bumper but really don’t care for all the weight.

It will make more sense when you do the quote, In the end it will probably cost 8k for 10 bumpers when you include shipping.

    yes!
Nope! but sure as shit wont help or do anything!
Source: I have the same style bumper!

Best protection would be light out there. If you can see it before it sprints at you, you can avoid it most of the time.
pick up a 40" lightbar and ditch lights. mine paid for itself the first night i used it.
and multiple times after that. a good set of ditch lights that blind into the adjacent fields helps as well.
    IMG_20200918_225428.jpg

or say fuck it, get that bumper and get a 12 inch lift to help center where you'd strike the deer in the first place. easier to drive over than under it!
