3rd Gen Torque Converter and Transmission Replacement

What fluid are you recommending for WS. I followed another of your threads saying not to use but didn't see an alternative. I'm still under warranty so sticking with WS for now but just curious for down the road. Is WS semi synthetic or complete fossil ?

 

WS is fine while you are on warranty and is semi synthetic .

Once your warranty is gone , there are hundreds of WS full synthetic alternatives now

 

does this fix the shudder that is common in overdrive at low rpms? really annoying when driving slow around town

 

At this time , your transmission is still fairly new and aftermarket valve body impovement kits are limited .
If you want the shudder to improve , you need to talk with the aftermarket tuners

 

I've only seen one aftermarket item for the AC60, and that's a heavy duty replacement valve body by Nomad in Australia. It's marketed for the Hilux, Fortuner, etc. They don't really tell all what they do to make it heavy duty.

Curious...are solenoid/plunger overbore kits subject to the same wear and tear as stock?

 

They are not always overbore .Those kits are made of anodized aluminum , therefore more durable to wear than factory grade valving . To this day , once the anodized valve is installed I have never had a cross leak when vacuum testing .
The aftermarket valving seals 100% .
It took 8 years before we started seeing valve body kits for the 2nd gen . Its probably going to be another year or two before we see mass production in the 60 series . Because the AC60 series is very simlar to the A750 series , you can expect to see a similar product release . Takes a long time to create the tooling , as well as R and D .
I know one thing , the kits are going to be a very hot commodity .
I am very suprised that ITP or Level 10 hasnt jumped on this yet . Lot of members with superchargers could use the upgrade . One can only assume that the tuner boys are keeping the boosted guys happy so far
