Cool thanks. I got an estimate today for $325 to take care of the limb and $3,500 to take down the tree and grind the stump. Getting another estimate tomorrow.

Eddie, if I end up taking it down or the guy leaves the remains with me, you're welcome to take it next time you're in Cranford.

I remember seeing that they made rear mounted plows that hook up to the trailer hitch. The negatives being you can't see where you're going cause you have to do it backwards otherwise you'd have all the snow built up under your truck. The positive is that it's not going to ruin the front end of the truck with all the wear and tear.

3500 to remove that tree is just stupid. the 2 giant oaks next to my house, $1100 to take them both down. dont get robbed. i will get my tree guy to do it for less. or pay boyd and i half that and we will take care of it :D

The tree is huge it's been there since before the house was built in '42. I'm gonna get a few estimates just to be safe. Also gonna call my guy back in Wall and see if his attitude has changed at all about driving up this way for some work. He did a large tree for my parents for 1,000 including grinding the stump and removal of all debris.

but remember , if it helps the cost, all they gotta do is cut it to size, and leave it, not removal, me and my buddy will come and scoop up all the wood there is. we burn a lot of it. do you know what kind of tree it is? but seriously, we scoop up wood likes its free heat...umm wait...thats what it is ;)

That was another option we were considering. Basically the tree is about 75 tall. It's one solid base at the lower 10' and then goes into four smaller sections and from there branches further. My concern is that even if they trim it back, if one of the small sections lets go, me or one of my neighbors are screwed. The tree is maple. Inside the tree is actually in good shape. The limb that fell was not rotted at all, just the ice weight I guess.

You guys are welcome to it. I got a wood burning outside stove so I'll take a little bit but you guys can have the bulk cause I just need a little so I can light a fire and have a few beers.

nicw, maple also does burn veeery well for inside. pine is never a good choice for fireplace or inside becuase lots of creosote from pine and makes fire int he flu likely. but let me know what numbers you get, and i will see what my guy says. and if you have pics of trees tomorrow, that would be great. but good to know you can have heat next time your here. i will keep your wood hear seperate for you, maybe box it and mail it to you if you like

David,,, time for a alignment next week ???

    no truck now :(
If you have a space heater, that'll work... just don't get dust on the paint. :) Too cold the paint/primer will get f'd up.. anywhich way, the colder it is, the longer it takes to properly dry. So... heat the garage somehow... Someone needs to own an autobody paint shop so we can bake this shit.. :)

I am def interested. I think my toytec's are about to go and they are not rebuildable. How much did you pay the first time for them to be rebuilt?
