I know some of you have taken your bed off, any idea on how much they weigh? 400ish? (6ft)

Yep I think so.

 

Yeah sheet metal construction is pretty magical. I wanted to see how close I was with the flatbed - flat bed is 30 lb heavier.

 

Yeah that's why I was asking too, wondering what the weight difference is versus some of the alloy flatbeds.

 

It’s worth looking at the factory bumper and trailer hitch then too. The combination of the two on mine was 100lb.

What’re you doing

 

Just looking at some options on alloy flatbeds. Was thinking of putting a GFC on my bed, but after thinking about it I don't like the side access with their frame and also it can't be transferred to another vehicle in the future, so I'm looking at some other ideas. Not jumping on anything right away, just exploring.

It's been slow at work; my co-worker warned me about getting production out too fast

Exactly why I really dig it.

Always loved seeing square body trucks with a nice flat bed. Not often did they sport an aluminum one though.

 

Even on my day off, I still have to fix pieces of shit.

RAM needed a new window regulator and motor. It took me a record setting four hours because everything was so broken. All the tack welds on the tracks were broken, and it was impossible to get the regulator lined up right.

The E320 is just… bad. It’s all bad. The water pump seized and the belt melted to the pulleys. In the immense heat of friction, the belt snapped. The alternator isn’t charging, the water pump is destroyed, both the tensioners are bad, and it’s got parasitic draw killing the battery.
