The lids are very hard to close, hopefully that will get better as the rubber gaskets break in.

I'll be taking them out as soon as I get the truck back. I only plan to use them for kayaking, biking, and camping trips.

My concern with them so far is weatherproofness. I don't want to store anything nice in there until they can prove they aren't gonna leak everywhere and ruin my stuff. When I took delivery they were wet inside I think from them cleaning the outside, but I guess they could’ve opened them to rinse them out.

I’m also concerned about resale value if I sell them. I wonder if years down the line it’ll be rare to see one with the boxes intact. I don’t have anywhere to store them for now, so it’s either keep or sell.

They would have been much better off eliminating those stupid boxes and lowering the price of the truck or just make them an add on option you could purchase.

From my experience, they do leak when it rains. Also, the "cooler" keeps ur beers as cool for as long as the "non cooler" does. They also have a little gasket inside u can remove to drain the water in there.

I'm curious of who would actually purchase them as aftermarket items? Are they even available in the Toyota parts catalogue?

This is my first Tacoma, and I don't have an opinion one way or the other on these bed boxes and have no plans on removing them anytime soon, however I really don't see me storing anything in them either.

I agree that Toyota shoulda made them an option however with the scarcity of trucks I don't think any of us have any choice in what options we get or don't get as I just had to take whatever they had coming to the dealership that was not pre-sold.

Right now, I've got some predator steps on craigslist as they came on the truck, but I would have never ordered one with them on it

I did the exact same thing upon delivery of my 2021 TRD OR DCSB. A little patience goes a long way. You will not regret it — 15,500 miles and my paint looks like new.

For those who are considering a Trail Edition, or fellow owners who just want to hear my review of the truck, I finally got around to making that YT video as promised.
