Could do that, but don't need cardboard to build the part that actually holds the tire.

The "cross member" right behind the bumper is actually part of the frame on an LC. Makes things convenient -

    It's stupid low.

Now, Zane could correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe outside the US, that center part of the frame would actually utilize a hitch. The area where you see the bolt holes just above the hitch.

Apparently it's not measured/rated so for the US market, they added a hitch receiver below.

Those look good too, and affordable, I looked at the UteLTD again as well.
MITS is my top choice right now.

That’s kinda what I thought it looked it. I would change it, look cleaner and better angle.

They make drop hitches for a reason if you ever need to pull a trailer

I'm a fan, I might go that route vs building my own in a few years

    Do they make something longer?

The mid-size that would fit Tacomas start at $5800 for the 5.5ft or a hundred bucks more for a 6ft, and then you can option them out from there. I'd just keep it pretty simple though, just the rear tool boxes and the trundle drawer probably. (they do have a headboard tank option though, 30L, as well as an under tray tank option 70L) What I also like is the whole setup can be migrated if I ever want to.

It's pricey but I think that route versus a camper top is more useful, for me anyway. Plus when you're in your 30s with no wife or kids the oof is smaller haha

My conflict now is I have my 99 to do truck stuff with it’s flatbed and my 04 is just worse at that with a shortbed. So in all reality my 04 would be better off as a 4Runner with how expensive rear cap/camper options are.

But I won’t sell it. I just need to sell my SnugTop and save up for a better option. A GFC is more expensive than a custom flatbed so that's fun. Cheapest option is getting my SnugTop fixed. But no one will do that work locally and I hate looking at it. Oh and I can't set pinion angle or adjust my leaf pack until I determine the standard load the truck will be carrying.

"So, are you married yet? Have any kids?"

No but I have a pretty neat tray and canopy on my old truck.
