Oh... I had a friend that got ticketed here in Texas for doing that. He only moved 20 feet, and he was the one that got hit!

I got the police report today and the jerk had the nerve to tell the cops that I hit him! He said he was parking and I rear-ended him. What a load of crap. I left a recorded statement with my insurance company and he did too. They told me he said that I apologized for hitting him and that I couldn't stop. All I know is the insurance company better not find me at fault. They have to look at the vehicles, report and statements and then they'll make their decision.

I got two estimates for about $1500. I have to bring it to an Allstate shop tomorrow for their inspection.

That sucks, but I am not surprised. Plenty of idiots out there that will lie. Good luck.

That's BS that he's doing that, though I'm sure he spoke to a few friends who told him that he should go on the offensive.

If you can prove he is lying, could he charged with something (like trying to pervert the course of justice, for example)?

    Hey, can any one out there run his plate? Then we can send someone to "persuade" him to tell the truth. ( ;

I am sorry to hear about your damaged Tacoma. I went through the trouble of getting our Tacoma fixed. I had to go against the city of Tucson. It was a city bus that hit my gf as she was doing a left-hand turn. But after 5 months of fighting, they took care of it for us. Cost was about $3k.

    Good luck with your situation.

Sorry 2 hear about your accident and people seem to be such jerks when it comes to not fessing up to there own mistakes. I c that yopur in the east coast which is a bummer cause I just took off my whole front bumper and aluminum skid plate for custom bumper and I dont need it any more. I would sell it to ya for real cheap but not sure what shipping would be 2 get it there. It is white but have everything for it also the foglights. Probably would sell it all for 350.00. But let me know if your interested. Good luck with the Ins.:)

I know what you mean about people not seeing BIG RED trucks. How can they not???

Hope things work out for you and you catch the dirt bag in his lie.

Several years ago my son was in a fender bender and the other guy was at fault... he had the nerve to file a claim with my insurance co. He never gave my son (think he was 17 at the time and intimidated him) any information and wouldn't let him call the cops. I told the insurance company NO WAY was it my sons fault. It was the other guys fault - the damage was on the SIDE of my car, so how could he have backed into the other guy... anyway, both of them had to do an official statement over the phone and thankfully they sided with us. When giving his statement, the other guy finally admitted he'd seen my son behind him.

So, maybe, the crumb will admit it was his fault...

Toyota needs to put better horns in these trucks. They are too wimpy and can't be heard over stereos.

Thanks for the posts. I've had nothing but aggrevation since this happened. I haven't been able to eat or sleep. Nice way to lose some weight huh.

I brought my truck to one of his insurance claim centers so they can do an estimate. It's in the hands of the insurance companies now. I left a recorded statement with both my ins. co. and his. His ins. co. said they didn't even know about the accident.

Unfortunately, he didn't hit me on the side or somewhere that could prove he hit me. His ins. co. said if it comes down to he said/she said, they side with their driver.

All I know is his ins. co. better pay for my damages. I've been out of work for 6 months and there's no way I'm paying my ($500) deductible. He has very minor damage to his car from my truck so I doubt my ins. will pay him anything. He has loads of other damage to his car and the adjuster tonight said "It looks like you take good care of your truck". So let the pictures speak for themselves.

I'll let ya know the outcome.....

I've often wondered if it would be worthwhile to buy a hand-held recorder to keep in the glove box, and slip into your pocket if you have an accident. If they try to change their story, you have the recording of your original conversation with them.

I had a passenger with me and he keeps on saying..."I wish I would've recorded him with my phone..."

A witness would've helped solve this whole case.

Even witnesses can be useless at times. I rear-ended a bus when I was 18. Bus stopped half a block past the bus stop, didn't signal, and left his rear end in my lane. I hit black ice and slid into him. One witness sided with the bus driver, and the other witness sided with me. The cops recorded it as a no-fault accident, but the insurance company still sided with the bus driver.
