I'm gonna ignore those last two lines

I fit a car seat in my Xtra cab backseat just fine with the pass seat all the way up. Newborn/infant car seat that is. Rear facing toddler seat is too big though and goes up front with the airbag off. Anyway... my point is I'm sure the double cab 1st gen has ample room for a dad and a baby plus the occasional passenger

Although if it's gonna be your primary baby hauler then I wouldn't fault you for going with something more modern with better safety features. I rarely have my daughter in my truck.

Plenty of room in the bed, kid would love it... the great out doors, fresh air, lots of scenery, some warm doggos to snuggle with... dismembered head of a cougar to do puppet shows with...

When I was born my Dad traded in my Mom's 1993 Toyota Tercel, the only brand new car she has ever bought, and got her a Mercedes 190E because it was safer... I don't think she minded the trade either haha

Used Subaru, nuff said. You'll probably have to rebuild it because subaru engines are hilariously unreliable underpowered disasters... but it'll go anywhere mostly and for cheap.

I agree on the Chevy suggestion.

With the exception of a 4L60E's overdrive, Tahoe's are a dime a dozen and you can find a well-taken care of example for cheap.

It'll last you forever, easy to work on, and parts are cheap and plentiful.

Yeah that's fair actually, I regretted recommending a subaru shortly thereafter... they really are just plain awful

Xterras are cool AF and I only say that because I loved how they looked back in the early 00s. I have no idea if they're worth owning these days, though they still look kinda cool. The older ones not the later ones

I'd vote Frontier, but the 4.0 not the earlier model V6.

That older 6 is found in the Xterra's (earlier models that is) which is why they're so cheap. They're also available in a 4 banger :puke:

Bert, he is 13~ now and could use the help.

He's getting pretty weak, he can't stand up or sit while the truck is moving or jump in anymore...the truth is I don't see him coming with me again, though.

I need to build him a ramp to get on my bed, he fell trying to get on it last night

Sounds like a platform would be a good thing for Bronx to have too

They had a supercharged option too right?

I read somewhere a long time ago that that was why Toyota/TRD starting offering the TRD supercharger for 1st gens, to compete with Nissan Frontiers and Xterras that came with them
