    ah. but i am an optimist. i think i can fix things if i stay. and i know that despite the economy, my job is pretty stable. i think it will be there as long as i want it. why jeopardize that? and i do love what i do. its just the politics of the office that make it unbearable!

    i have been! but not too seriously and i work in construction so there's not a lot out there right now.

    the bossman doesn't respond well to threats. if i demand a raise now i'm sure he'll counter offer with sending me on my way out the door for good. but if i stick it out and am the last one left i might have enough leverage.

    did i mention that i haven't had a raise in 3 years? been doing this job for almost 5 years now. in fact, i have been there the longest out of all of the drafters. not that that means much to anyone in the company.

    surprises are bad. surprises mean i start working 3 minimum wage jobs to keep my head above water.
