Steering wheel controls with aftermarket radio.

Is there an adaptor that will allow me to use the factory steering wheel controls with an aftermarket radio? On my last tacoma (05 trd) I had a Pioneer and was not able to find an adaptor.

 

I have the PAC-PS that works with most Pioneer and Sony H/Us.... unfortunately mine is one that it is incompatible and didn't notice until after I tried to install it.

I'll sell or trade it if you want it (has the instructions and all the wires and that jazz, just none of the original packaging).

 

Ohhh this is a great idea! I'd like to get one for my Eclipse deck that I'll be getting, I heard Eclipse used to (or still does) oem work for Toyota so hopefully I'll be able to find an adapter for it. I'll check these PAC guys out, thanks for the thread!

I'm running a Pac Swi-Jac on my Jvc AVX-810 for my steering wheel controls. It works great. the initial set up can be a bit of a pain but still works good after 3 months. It does change your set up a little. the only thing that is different is how the mode button works. with my jvc the mode button powers on and off and mutes the HU but does not switch through different sources.

 

I'd rather have mute than switching through the sources... that way I can lower the music when I see a cop and not get a ticket for noise pollution again!

Update on my Pac SWI-Jack, I think something does not have a good connection. I'm thinking the problem is where i had to bridged two wires with a 5 ohm resistor to make the controls work(got in a hurry and did not have a saudering iron.....) the problem is like a break in a power connection because when one button doesnt work, none of the buttons work so i'm assuming its my connections not the control unit itself. as soon as i get a warm day to take it all apart I will post an update.

 

Wait! What system are you running that you're getting tickets with?
