What size tires are you running and what did you regear to? I've been on the fence about regearing, with plans on a supercharger eventually. I had a supercharged '04 Tacoma on 33's and regeared to 4.56's and absolutely hated it. With all the power, it blew through 1st and 2nd gear way too quick, didn't pull as hard, and felt way slower than with stock gearing. I know it's a completely different tranny, but with how bad going from 4.10's to 4.56's was on the '04...I feel like going from 3.90's to 4.88's would be even worse on the new one.

I ran a Spec clutch in my Supercharged '04 Tacoma and loved it, would highly recommend them.

They don't seem to have anything available for the 3rd gen as of now.

I’m running 285/75r16’s St Maxx’s, truck is an A/T and did 4.56’s. I did a ton of number crunching and 4.88’s seemed like it put me just higher than optimal in fourth gear where I will be spending lots of time while towing. My current setup allows me to cruise at 70 right at 2k rpm’s in 6th. If I thought I would ever go to 35’s I would have gone to 4.88’s as it puts the speed and rpm’s at almost the exact same as 33’s with 4.56’s. Since my truck is fairly light in terms of heavy mods I didn’t feel the need for the mechanical advantage that the 4.88/5.29’s provide.

I was unaware that anyone had come out with 4.56's for the 3rd gens. Or do you have the 8" rear end?

Yeah it’s good. I would hold off on the accumulator delete mod with this clutch. It chatters a lot at low rpm.

Yup, 8” rear. Went with dual limited slips as I’m not doing any crazy rock crawling.

LOL, my Accumulator was out when the truck had less then 50 miles on it, but I still have it. So your recommend to leave it in place to soften up engagement?

Exactly. If it’s already out leave it be. You know how reverse is kinda tall? With this clutch and accumulator delete you need to feather it from a safety standpoint. Especially with passengers. Otherwise your passenger will eat the dashboard. Lol

Even when feathering it… it can be punishing.

mine is working fine. I would not go any more aggressive than an FX250. It is jerky enough with the FX250. Its a noisy clutch though. The gear rattle at idle and accelerating from low rpms is obnoxious if you have windows down.
I’d buy it again if there are no better options, but otherwise I’d try a different brand.

So people I don't care for go in the front seat. Check...

I also talked with Phoenix Friction but they are out of stock on anything 3rd gen with no ETA. But they'd recommend the stage 3 Kevlar Ceramic Clutch if they did have stock.

Do you have AFR and Boost gauges? I'm curious to know the AFRs while using the 87mm pulley. (In all scenarios). And also what peak boost is with each pulley.

My concern with upgrading the pulley to the smaller one before YW finishes the tune for it might risk putting the truck in a lean scenario, and causing damage. But I also want to believe that Maggie configured their tune on the conservative side...so it's probably ok and I'm over thinking it.

I have a dual wideband that is yet to be hooked up. Sorta like those “Jesus take the wheel folks” I’m putting my faith in the process we have been through. I bet if you tally the amount of pulls that everyone has done so far we are probably into the realm of 300+ full throttle pulls. On the way home just to confirm my faith I did a 0-95mph full throttle pull *on a closed course ;) and then drove an additional 12 miles home afterwards. :burnrubber:

Is changing the pulley pretty easy and does the serpentine belt need to be changed or anything else just wondering before I look into getting one

Changing the pulley is super easy and requires no belt change. From start to finish I was done in under 30 minutes and that included pulling up the Magnuson manual and finding the torque specs for the pulley bolts. Finding a tube of locktite and putting the tools away when I was done.

Thanks! This is exactly the kind of review I was hoping for.

Unfortunately the pulley got delayed and showed up after I left on a road trip, but it’s going in as soon as I get home!!

I'm assuming there's the room to reach through the fan and rotate the idler pulley arm?

Haven't updated my tune since installing last year. I was sent a new update 04B80_V7_PCO_MAG_SC_PR1_CS_TC_1580.vfc yesterday (it's new to me, you may already have it). And I just finished a 500 mile drive just before installing and I have to say that it's so much smoother and consistent. I'm very happy with the update tune. I feel like it gives me the full band of power and is much better imho from first to last gear.
