Thanks for the input. I too have a Stihl
    Actually I have 2, am a 56 and 91
So I definitely don’t need the trimmer.
I don’t think I have enough batteries to do all the trimming I have around here.

That’s good advice. I’d say I’ll will using it more than most people. My grandparents are getting older. I’m trying my best to maintain their property when I have time. They have 18 Bradford pear trees, 2 maples, a a few more trees. I’m constantly trimming limbs over hanging the driveway.

I would NEVER recommend anyone plant a Bradford pear. I can’t think of a more useless tree. They literally grow their selves apart. That is if the wind does bust a section out first.

Of you don’t have them topped out ever 4-5 years they will bust as soon a you get a good wind.

And then there is my mothers place.
It’s full of poplar, oak, and hickory.
I’ve had all I want of trees. lol

Did somebody say poplar, oak and hickory? So far my little Husky 435 has cut down over 20 trees. Dropped 2 last weekend and still have about 40 to go :annoyed:

    I got a 450 and 455 and a Stihl MS271

I have access to a 460 w/24” bar when needed.

If I ever buy another saw, would go with a Pro series. Power/weight ratio is much better.

A Husky 562 or Stihl 362 would probably do everything I need.

I will say, my 271 has been run hard and it’s still hanging in there.

@w.adventures stay safe. And be careful.
Watch the lean and be really careful on white oaks with a hard lean. They can split right up the middle as they start to fall.

Either chain it or bore cut the center if it is leaning hard.

Absolutely would not trade my little MS170 for any of the electric options.

 Luckily they are all less than 16” at the base and pretty straight. I have only had to use the winch twice on the trees that had a small back lean. I really need to invest in a sawmill to use all this lumber.

Having done what I just did... I support you. The Milwaukee is not bad, it is just different. I am also concerned that I will run out of OIL faster than battery and then have a dry chain and burn it up. :annoyed:

You’d be surprised what a 170/180 can do if you upgrade the bar/chain

There is a big difference in performance.
Just don’t bury it too deep in hard wood.
That’s the only downside to the upgrade.
The little .043 chain just didn’t hold up well for us.

    14” bar 3/8 .050

I did this exact thing with the Milwaukee! I went down to 12" though because I replaced the Stihl MS192TC (and miss my FarmBoss every day...)

I own the corded cheap $59 Portland fiberglass pole saw from harbor freight and the M18 quick lock pole saw with additional extension.
    My opinion:
If you have power near by and a small yard, the cheap electric is the way to go. Nice and light and if you crush it, no huge loss. Yeah, a bit of hassle with cords but not bad.
My take on the Milwaukee, it’s incredibly heavy, the weight takes your focus off of swinging a saw around. It works well, and is awesome if you’re doing a quick trim of your 3 acre fence line, like I do. But if I’m going to stay stationary and trim s big tree, I grab the El Cheapo and some cords.
And obviously, if it were for my profession, Stihl gas powered all day!

Milwaukee bare tool pole saw is $279!?!
When you're at HFT might just buy a generator and cord, essentially the same thing, then you got a generator for other uses!

Or just do what I do, and plug it into the bed of the truck. :anonymous:

@Sig45 sorry for temporarily high jack the thread. It’s too easy to get carried away when talking saws.

We can now get back to the topic of Milwaukee Tools. I believe I have enough information to make a decision. Which is just buy the pole saw extension for my Stihl KM91. I already know my shoulder and arms are going to pay the price. But I don’t plan to use it “too much”.

BTW...I have the M18 pole saw attachment along with the trimmer attachment. Still dead of winter here, so haven't had a chance to use either.

^^ That is a pretty damn good deal. Had I had a need for that bandsaw, I'd already ordered one.
