The SP500 or the MSCI/Russell Indexes give you a great view of what is happening with cost in every sector of the economy - it's a WAY more comprehensive and honest sample size and strata than what the Gov uses for the official numbers. Those businesses provide the same value they always have, but they cost 25% more now in aggregate because....everything does. That everything is their inputs.
