What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

anyone rolling without their sway bar? i leveled out my tacoma and put all mew factory shocks. now my sway bar on the driver side is rubbing on the coil spring. probably needs an alignment obviously but wouldnt mind deleting the sway bar as well

 

Mine is gone, Rancho Quick-lift, for about 5 months longer, hopefully sooner, haven’t had a sway bar in awhile. Supposedly the Ranchos have a stockish spring rate, much better ride, feels like more travel, but definitely more sway, you get used to it, and I have no intention/desire to put it back on. I’ve had one pucker moment on the freeway when some a-hole at 5am swerved into my lane, luckily I was watching him, and my surrounding lanes, I made my emergency move at 75mph, felt a bit dicey, still not putting it back on, but bought a dash cam after, haha

I did have the sway bar on for a bit after I initially did the lift, I did no adjustments/relocations of the sway bar, and had no interference

 

I had to adjust the mounting. I wanted to be able to see the edge of the bumper so I knew exactly where I was at for parking. Didn’t really matter if I experimented on this grill because I have a painted grill ordered because I don’t like the chrome anyway. I’m going to roll the bottom edge of the camera flange to match the grill but it actually works out pretty good nice front view.

 

Body roll is the way to go. Been without the sway bar for maybe three years. Takes a little bit to get used to the roll.

 

Very nice. I put one in my front bumper and one facing the rear on my roof. Very helpful on the trail, camping, parking etc

 

I completed my chase bar install today. I used edge trim to clean up the cut on the console, made some tabs out of sheet metal and epoxied them to the inside of the sunglasses holder. Pay no mind that it's slightly off center. I totally did that on purpose to put it closer to the driver to make it easier to activate.

To route the wiring, I drilled a hole directly over the sunglasses console, that way I didn't have to drop the headliner at all.

 

I did, but I also installed Old Man Emu 2885 coil springs with my lift. If you’re on stock coils your truck will dive to the outside of a turn in normal use and be a dangerous beast to control in a panic swerve. The body roll is drastically enhanced without the sway bar to compensate unless you install heavier coils.

 

What is the light pattern on this bar? How many Amber vs White? Any pics with them on ?

I feel like there’s a 50/50 split of how people feel about taking the sway bar off vs leaving on the sway bar. I’d say keep in mind your driving style if you’re going to do it. I’ve had mine off for months and it’s way more comfortable with my lift however at 21 I already drive like a grandpa so I haven’t had any issues with butt puckering body roll

 

In your opinion does the ride up front improve? Takes some harshness out?

 

There are a bunch of options for pattern as well as color. I opted for all amber but amber/white is also an option.

Yeah absolutely. I do have a RC lift up front so it’s pretty stiff already. I had to get used to the little bit of extra body roll but in about a week I couldn’t tell a difference. You adapt to taking turns 2 or 3 mph slower and it really overall improves the ride quality. Plus it will allow more articulation and what not off road but my trucks a pavement princess.

 

I dont have the issue with it rubbing the coils but might have to try that out, thanks!

 

@rtilton12 Forgot to mention, if you decide to keep the sway bar, you can buy sway bar relocation brackets to keep it from hitting your coils. I think they’re like $25 on Amazon. They move the bar like an inch forward

Stock rear axle. It looks so phat because of the aggressive wheels, lack of flares and my bobbed bed making the rear tires so visible. Wheels are 3" backspacing, 9" wide and 35" tires.

It'll take some messing around to get the best quality GIFs because the longer they are, the lower the frame rate they'll be. The GIF file size is pretty large too and there's a limit of 20 mb per file when making a post. Once it's created I simply copy and paste the gif into the text box on tacomaworld.

For things like this I prefer to make a GIF because it's easier on everyone else to just watch a short GIF versus having to click on a YouTube link.

 

@theolee what headlights are those you're running? Looking for a tube style like what you've got.

 

@EatSleepTacos Do you know if the light in that bar can be removed, replaced, reorganized? site say they can but not specific on what models.

Yes they can. It was more clear about that in the instruction pamphlet. There's 10 light modules and each one can be swapped out for another light with ease. Just undo two screws and unplug it. So I can replace them if they go out or make a custom color scheme.
