So I’ve been adding bits and pieces to my truck over the last few years and plan on doing new suspension all around, but was wondering if it would make sense to just get a new leaf pack now, and new coilovers etc down the road.
I would just get it all at once, but it’s not in my budget right now.
(Was looking at the Fox stage 2a kit)

So far this is what I’ve added to the rear of my truck.
    Leer camper shell- 200ish lbs
    Prinsu rack- 50lbs
Ovs 270 awning (not always on the truck) 74lbs
Home made platform system (also not always installed) probably 100ish lbs
Also have a victory 4x4 rear bumper on order that should be ready in 3-4 months 156lbs
580 lbs total give or take.

I also at times will have a lot more weight back there on work trips and camping trips.

I’m thinking maybe just get a new leaf pack and u-bolt flip kit now, and the rest sometime within the next year when I have the money put aside.
Is that a bad idea, or should i just get it all at once?

I’ve never upgraded suspension on any of my vehicles before this, so this is new to me.

I'd consider doing new rear shocks at the same time as the leafs. Most aftermark leaf packs will lift the rear. The factory shocks will be too short and act as limiting straps if you are wheeling it hard.

The front can be done whenever. Just keep in mind that you will need an alignment after every suspension part you replace on the front. So if you plan to do new coilovers and new UCA's, you will save ~$100 by doing them together and only getting an alignment once.

Ah, gotcha. Didn’t think about the rear shocks limiting the new leafs. I’m not gonna be doing too much wheeling before I have the complete suspension set up.
Probably just in town, highway, and a little dirt/gravel roads.
Don’t plan on doing rock crawling or anything like that, just want to have the extra weight properly supported. The stock leaf springs seem to be sagging a bit already.

It sounds you are well within the limits of the stock suspension. Also note that upgrading the suspension does not increase the GVWR which may or may not be a legal liability.
