I made a video showing my EDC gear and how it's stored. This is the first video I've ever done and uploaded so don't be too harsh on me. I had been working in the yard out in the cold and my nose was running, why all the sniffles. I'll do a better job next time. Raw video, one take and no editing.

Fine video Scott. Well prepared. I've gotten RV spots before mainly for electricity so I have adapter for that plug in.

tldr; some of the sometimes-overlooked items (beyond first aid and recovery items) I include:
    • contact lens case & solution, epi pen, water tablets (technically kinda part of first aid kit - but not always included, particularly by people without contacts or severe allergies - but super helpful to have when needed by others)
    • pen, paper, cash
    • spare various charging cables for everything (phone, dog collar, gps, headlamp, radio...)
    • jumper cables & battery pack jumper/charger
    • duct tape & flagging tape (breadcrumbs!)
    • contractor trash bags, gallon zip locks/water proof bags
    • various lighters/fire starters
    • headlamp & batteries
    • blanket, gloves, hat, socks, rain poncho, micro spikes (winter)
    • ditty bag: bug spray, sunscreen, hydration nozzle mouthpiece, straps, bands, screw driver bits, hiking & tent pole repair gear, energy gels, bug net
    • tarp, rope, bivvy
    • deck of cards
*I will forever remember the looks I got while cleaning out my prior vehicle ahead of a trade at the last minute - I tend to forget where I squirreled what away; pulled out the hatchet, trash bags, shovel, and duct tape in a sequence... gives off a bit of a certain vibe...

Would any gen Tacoma be able to accommodate a compartment design like the one pictured? Any compartment like that would probably have to resemble the Trail Edition bed boxes.

I imagine the whole setup would have to eat away at some space along the side on the bed's sidewall since theres not much room in there on Tacos

Was he a waterboy from Louisiana? Cuz if so, then it was water from a glacier in Alaska. Special bright blue glowing water that always stays cold. No need to keep it in a ca ca ca coolah... glovebox 'll do.

If you design it to. This is more than likely not something that's plug and play, lol. A lot of thought goes into stuff like that, and a lot more work making it look "stock". Probably sacrificed some bed space, but judging by the pic, the whole bed is custom too.

What’s pictured is a newer HiLux truck. Looks like the tail lights are the same shape..? Yep a panel would have to be installed inside the bed sides, but from what I saw the wheel wells still show..?

You must be from the city and never wander far. If so, hey cool. Your rig is equipped with everything you need and you should be able to leverage others in a time of crisis. However, if you are driving through the Wyoming backroads in the dead of winter and you break down between Thermopolis and Cody you may begin to think OP has the right idea.

Or in bear country and get a flat on a trail...

I've actually had a black bear run straight at me when I was rotating tires. Luckily, it was already spooked having crossed a highway with oncoming traffic and as soon as we saw each other he turned 90 degrees and ran the other way. Had the bear spray and the rifle in the back, but there would have been no way to get to it fast enough with the doors closed. Had to change my depends (the fit flex kind - not the wimpy ones) after that.

Countless other times encountering moose, elk, bears, etc etc when I've been out and about.

I've also had a fuel pump go out on an older F150 during negative degree weather. Glad I had a blanket and tons extra layers waiting on the tow truck. I spent the better part of an hour trying to diagnose it outside before I realized I couldn't hear the pump. Also got lucky I was in cell service range. I've seen people walking on a two lane highway before... it's VERY dangerous. Some spots you just can't avoid having to walk on the road unless you plan on detouring a good 20 minutes lol.
