Of course he doesn't. It's an INDIVIDUAL choice based upon cost and convenience. Unless your deductible is <$350 with multiple replacement coverage without penalty, it's a no- brainer.

It's worth checking on the cost to drop that to $100. For me, $100 deductible costs less than $100/yr, which pays for itself quickly for just the windshield replacements I typically need periodically.

    "Average Car Insurance Deductible
The average car insurance deductible is $500, which, if a claim is filed, will generally be less than whatever the cost of repairs are for a serious accident. If the cost of repairs is less than your deductible, you should not file a claim. Your insurance company won’t pay for any repairs below the deductible, and filing a claim can cause your insurance premium to rise."

    And the source.. anything else?

You might brush up on how deductibles work. There is a deductible for collision and a deductible for comprehensive, unless your insurance sucks. Your citation doesn't specify which, but it is almost certainly collision.

Yes, very aware however, even crappy insurance has separate deductibles. My point still stands the AVERAGE is $500. I'm set at $100 and it sounds like you are too. My insurance is pretty top notch, but thanks for asking!

Thefts are on the rise here too, and I have insurance too, but I have heard some of the replacement cats aren't even available for months due to being on backorder/supply chain issues (the usual TW know-it-alls no need to argue or correct me).

Install straight forward It took me about 2 hours by myself and just used stacked boards to position it. 2 People will make it much easier & quicker. And you do need to jack it up, unless you have a very shallow drill. The most difficult part is holding the nut on the top in tight spots while you tighten the screws. (small hands help) You will need a good drill bit, and I needed more blue loctite than they provided.

mine was on sale recently when I got it. And it was free shipping when I bough it through their Amazon storefront.

Its well build, but it is (thick) aluminum (I painted the sides black). I am fairly certain one look at it and a thief will pass on it. As you can see it is well designed and really no way to defeat it. Even if you have the "key" to the provided security screws, it will take forever to take them out (again, have to hold the nut above)

I dont even keep my truck outside, but I have seen videos of how fast they cut them out and I wanted the peace of mind. (no noise or knocking from it while offroad)

Great video which sold me on it.

I emailed them to ask because there wasn't any of the "bolt on/no modification required" listed on the product page. I can't recall what additional work was necessary, but they didn't claim bolt on capability.

I'll look into this, as I'm curious where most people "cut" a corner as I'd be happy to install one if I can get around the concept of drilling the frame somehow. Do you happen to know which thread this was discussed on? I'm interested!

I just thought of cat shield like in house cats. That would work to splatter them damn cats so they don't scratch my underbelly.

I called USAA. I have a $200 deductible. It's the same as hitting a deer or other animal, which where I live, happens a lot. It's all comprehensive. USAA will cover it every time. Why wouldn't they? Maybe if your insurance limits you, it's time to find new insurance. But specify that is YOUR insurance, not all insurances.

Yes, I also have USAA, no other insurance like USAA they cover everything, everytime. I know my neighbors insurance told them they only cover 2. i think it was farmers or alstate, but again I would assume it could vary from policy to policy.

Okay, these look nice too except.. it "stacks" on underneath of front skid plate. So, not such a clean install. But, it's 1/4" thick instead of 14 ga. and it's one piece instead of bolt together. It's a legit skid plate AND cat guard. Tough decision...
