I would like to take the time to tell the person that wrote about steepandcheap.com on this thread that if I ever meet you in real life, I'm kicking you in the balls. For someone that is impulsive and buys way to much camping gear, this is the worst site known to man.

I'm going to be broke in a week, but on the plus side, due to that site, I will be able to survive living outdoors for the rest of my life.

I had to do that, too.

    Tent for $119? -- Sure.

    Ice Ax for $75? -- I'll take 2!

    Snaplinks, 4 for $25? -- I've already got plenty but they're 50% off!

I honestly believe I have kept Backcountry.com and it's band of toadie sites in business singlehandedly with my camping and snowboarding gear.

    same here.
Yeah pretty much. I had the firefox toolbar that updated for each items so I never really missed anything. Well worth the time though. They had some really nice tents for super super cheap too. I was impressed. And they don't kill you on shipping charges either

this may have been posted somewhere else on TW already but I thought it applied to the topic at hand here.

    http://store.usgs.gov/b2c_usgs/usgs...rea=2&ctype=areaDetails&carea=0000000009)/.do

Its a nifty little site that allows you to look up, download, and/or buy maps anywhere in the US. I usually opt for the download because I have access to a large format printer and water proof paper at work :spy: Anytime I'm heading into new territory I drop in to see what is available.

awesome site but you can't do MGRS... that and transverse mercator are the easiest type of grids to read and navigate with. I go to MyTopo.com You can insert what ever type of grid system you want and any size up to 3 foot by 4 foot wall maps. just go through the ordering process and when it gives you the chance to preview, do so and then save the image to your PC. Map for free at that point! :) The quality is really good too but they say it is even better with the actual ordered map from them. they are out of Montana and the guys there are awesome. He even offered to accept my copied images with all my added land mark labelings and stuff i did on a photo shop and add them to ordered maps for me.

x2. I am about to get one of those huge maps of the US with all the national parks on it and mark off where I want to go and where I have been. From there I will just slowly get the maps as I go.

Can you guys suggest a good set of pots and pans?
I just have 1 person dinky things right now, I can't even make a quarter of a quesadilla..
    Low price would be nice.

And what are you guys using for Water filtration? I've been staring at the MSR for months and I've used it on the trail a couple times.

Thanks everyone. I really like that water filtration system.
It's going to be rain today and tomorrow all day, but I might be able to find a couple hours when I can test out my Camper shell again...Wasn't water proof last time.

Just needed to tighten up my roof rack on it.
