You can air down to get a little more clearance if needed. Or do what the monster trucks do and have a spare set of stock wheels and tires (can be cheap ass old spares) to toss on when you need to pull it in to work on it.
Get ready for a lot of massaging. Not just on the firewall side but the whole way around the wheel well. Mine has bare spots where it rubs still even after lots of pounding and lots of self clearancing.

BIG WARM-UP TODAY: Temperatures are in the 25-32 degree range across most of Alabama early this morning, but with a strong February sun we expect a high in the low 60s in most places this afternoon. The average high for Birmingham on February 9 is 58. Sunny weather continues tomorrow and Friday with highs in the 60s… a few spots could touch 70 degrees Friday afternoon for a nice preview of spring.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Look for a partly sunny sky Saturday with a high in the 61-65 degree range. Then, a cold front will pass through the state Saturday night… moisture will be very limited, but it might squeeze out a sprinkle or flurry in a few spots. Measurable precipitation is not expected… then much colder air returns to the state Sunday. Despite a clearing sky, temperatures won’t get past the mid 40s Sunday afternoon with a brisk north wind.

NEXT WEEK: Temperatures rebound quickly… the high Monday will be in the upper 50s, and then back in the 60s Tuesday and Wednesday. Rain returns Thursday afternoon and Thursday night… See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

ON THIS DATE IN 1899: One of the most significant cold outbreaks to ever impact the United States occurred early to mid-February. From the 8th-11th, the statewide average temperature across Iowa was 14.6 degrees below zero, making it the coldest four-day stretch on record in the state. On the 8th, Sioux City experienced its coldest day on record, with a daily average temperature of 24 degrees below zero. Then on the 11th, they reached their second-coldest temperature on record with a low of minus 31. Overall the coldest readings were obtained on the morning of the 9th when reported low temperatures included -21 at Keokuk, -23 at Des Moines, -33 at New Hampton, -35 at Le Mars, -38 at Estherville, and -40 at Sibley. The cold across the middle of the country was so extreme and persistent that ice floes down the Mississippi River into the deep south, emerging into the Gulf of Mexico near New Orleans on February 17th. This has happened only one other time: February 13, 1784.

The temperature at Birmingham would drop to -10F on February 13, 1899… still the coldest temperature on record for the city.

ON THIS DATE IN 1994: A devastating ice storm struck Mississippi, Louisiana, and extreme northwest Alabama. Freezing rain began falling over northern Mississippi during the early morning hours and continued until midday on the 10th. Ice accumulated 3 to 6 inches thick on exposed objects in the affected area. Due to the weight of the ice, power lines, trees, and tree limbs were down. Nearly one million people were without power after the storm, some for a month. In Alabama, seven counties over the northwest part of the state were devastated. Trees blocked roads, which were already impassable because of the ice glaze. Three to five inch rainfall amounts occurred, resulting in a heavy glaze over the Northwest and even causing flooding elsewhere.

ON THIS DATE IN 2011: Up to four inches of snow fell across parts of North and West Alabama; heavier snow was northwest of our state in Arkansas, where some places saw over one foot.

ANOTHER NICE WARM-UP AHEAD: Temperatures are in the 28-38 degree range across the state early this morning, but the dry airmass in place will heat very effectively, and we project a high in the mid 60s this afternoon with a sunny sky. The average high for Birmingham on February 10 is 58. Sunny weather weather continues tomorrow with a high between 65 and 70 degrees.

MUCH COLDER AIR ARRIVES SATURDAY: Global models are faster with the arrival of our weekend cold front. It will move through the state Saturday morning in dry fashion, and colder air will move quickly into the state. Guidance now suggests some places over the Tennessee Valley could actually hold in the 30s through the day, with 40s and 50s to the south. Southeast Alabama will reach the 60s Saturday afternoon before the front arrives.

Behind the front, a few snow flurries are possible in the cold air Saturday night, but the air will be dry and we still expect nothing meaningful (no impact). Sunday will be cold and dry… the sky becomes partly sunny and the high will be in the mid 40s.

NEXT WEEK: Thankfully the cold snap won’t last long. The weather will be dry during the first half of the week with a warming trend… the high Monday will be in the low 50s, followed by low 60s Tuesday and mid 60s Wednesday. A significant weather system will bring rain and thunderstorms into the state Thursday and Thursday night; too early to know if severe storms will be an issue. Drier air returns Friday… See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

ON THIS DATE IN 1921: Gardner, Georgia, was devastated by a massive, estimated F4 tornado that caused an entire small town section to disappear. The tornado killed an estimated 31 people and injured 100.

ON THIS DATE IN 1981: A morning tornado at Bay Minette struck the local middle school severely damaging the gymnasium. The twister hit the school about 8:50 a.m., shortly after classes had been called to order. There were a total of 62 injuries, 44 of whom were students. Most of the injuries apparently were minor — cuts, bruises and broken bones — and were a result of flying glass and bricks.

Yea my dads got an 06 2wd, I hate to go older truck but got 30k less miles and still have my rc. Guys deciding which dealer truck he wants to keep that or this 14 tundra, this one’s clean but I’d wanna change suspension so probably not worth jumping into.

Depends how much he's asking. Suspension can be done in steps and saved up for. Just keep it simple and don't go crazy. Rear springs are soft on the tundras in general I'd opt for a HD leaf to tow/haul better then just some basic billies nothing fancy.

Also depending on the miles of that 14 or a newer on the suspension could be worn out also and need some maintenance.

Meh. Interior looks like a slightly updated 3rd gen tundra with a floating screen. The exterior looks like they're trying way too hard to mimic Chevy/Pilot with all the sharp lines and angles. Then that front end hideous went with the signature Ford move of a huge flat grill. Not a fan at all. But I haven't really liked the tundra that much since the 1st gen.
