Celestial Silver Metallic Thread

Nice! Can you snap some daytime photos of it to check the finish out in the sunlight?

I still can't tell how much of a difference there is between Silver Sky Metallic and Celestial Silver Metallic. Most of the SSM Tacomas I've seen have a fairly dull finish to them. The CSM seems to look great at night under lights with a little water on them. Hahaha.

 

Sure, when I get a chance. I'm coming from a SSM and it's not a huge difference. The CSM seems a little bit more reflective/responsive to the light and surroundings. Perhaps more metallic? SSM seemed a little more dull and consistent. Others have said SSM has a slight blue tint, but IDK.

 

I posted this in the "How long did you have to wait" thread, but I'm liking the CSM, so I thought I'd get on board here. "Ordered on 12/17, they told me it would take 12-15 weeks. picked it up yesterday, after 7 weeks +, with 6 miles on it and full tank of gas. Now for a few mods."

 

It would be kewl to see a side by side pic of the silvers to see the difference of the two.

I had my name down for a Midnight Black Metallic, but now, the more I see dirty black tacos, I am leaning towards going with the Celestial Silver Metallic. I'm going to try to find one on a lot, or at least another vehicle in CSM for comparison sake. I had been looking at Silver Sky Metallic Tacomas, not realizing that 2022 is the first year that the Tacomas switched over to CSM. I want to believe that the 2022's shine more than the flatter 2021 and older 3rd gen Tacos. I just feel that silver will probably hold up better over time, pinstriping, road grime and so on.

I got a chance this weekend to stop by a dealership and see a CSM in person. Thankfully, there was a base 2022 2WD SR Taco that wasn’t going anywhere. It did it’s job by representing the finish well. It was actually a sunny day here in Washington and I wanted to see if it shined.

It seemed like it had larger metal flake than the 2021 SSM. This made me happy to see it in person in the sunshine.I canceled my order for a Black DCSB OR and told him that I wanted the same truck in silver. There’s nothing on allocation just yet. But I’ll wait. The DO have a loaded one with leather (softex), but I don’t hear great things about their leather. And, that one has a sunroof that I’m not sold on. LOL.

 

Just chiming in.. not sure if you’re referring to the premium package or not, but if you are, the leather is actual leather and not softex. The only places that are softex/vinyl are the headrests, outer edges of the bolsters and the middle seat in the second row of DC configs. Can’t speak about AC configs. The leather in my 2022 TRD OR DCSB with the premium package is quite nice and I really wanted a sunroof and heated seats so the premium package was a must. It does seem like the type that would shrink overtime without care though.
