When I got the south-facing windows tinted in my house, I used a neighbor who does window tinting as a side hustle. He did a great job, but the reason I'm telling you this is that I found out there was a cash price that was a bit better than an actual quote. Since he lives so close, I was comfortable with that. Have you tried looking for smaller outfits like that?

I'm not a painter but have probably an unfortunate level of experience repainting interiors. You won't get a single coat of coverage, ever. Even the highest tiers best case are two coats, usually 3.

Solar array powered on today. This is with the car charging so power use is stupid high, but that 0kW from the grid sure looks nice.

Be a lot more efficient to just have modular cells that you change out. Then you don't have DC>AC>DC>AC>DC
Then again idk what's actually built into a Telsa powerwall. Maybe it's smart enough to skip a step

Yes I’m actually surprised they don’t have a direct connection from the power wall system to the car charger. Maybe that’s going to be available in the future.

Pretty sure it's because the car has a converter internally to scale up to battery voltage. 450VDC is another conversion that would require DC>AC>DC anyway..unless they start giving houses 480VAC

They may have a PV DC to BESS DC though, and that would be the step skipped.

I only use Bemjamin Moore Aura nowadays on interior and get 1 coat coverage everywhere except over unprimed patches. Aura is not cheap, but looks so good dry I think it is worth it. (Painting for myself, not others)

Pick the one with a high level of titanium dioxide and check the can for approximate sq.ft. coverage. Whatever you pick plan on at least 2 coats. I'm not aware of nor have I ever used a paint that I was content with at the first coat.

I prefer Sherwin Williams Duration exterior flat for outside and Sherwin Williams Superpaint satin for interior. Superpaint has primer in it and covers more sq.ft. than Duration, but it's not as thick. For Benjamin Moore I've only used Muresco flat ceiling paint when I re-did my garage ceiling. Ace Hardware had it on sale with curb side pickup. It stunk pretty bad and took a few days to off gas. I've never had that problem with Sherwin-Williams. :notsure:

Yes, but I don't have connections and I'd rather go with someone licensed and insured. The dude I'm going with operates out of his house, has been doing it for over 20 years and does primarily residential tint with some automotive. His price, $1700, was about half of the other 2 estimates I received and is for the entire house with lifetime warranty. He quoted per window as well. I understand tint is relatively inexpensive, but the labor isn't.

Also, after thinking about it more today I'm going to leave a few windows un-tinted like the kitchen so I can have plants in the window sill and fruits and veggies will still sun ripen. Also a couple other windows that are out of direct sunlight, so I don't lose a ton of natural light. That will bring the price down a little more.

My supplier said Aura is over $100/gal right now. I really cant justify much more than $60/gal. So probably gonna do the regal select.
The plan was to go with SW until I went to the store and asked for samples. Dude said they dont do them and told me to get Home Depot to make them, then come back and buy their paint. Thats a really crummy business model imo, Id rather buy from a place where Im not being told to go buy someone elses product.
