Tips and Tricks on the 3rd Gen Tacoma

Just curious boys.. what’s the most miles you’ve gotten from a full tank of a v6 ?? I usually get about 275-295 driving the “keep up” speed(90-95mph) here in Texas. I slowed her down to 75 all week and drive 80 miles round trip to work and back, I’m showing 300 and have 81 miles till E And making this the first week I’ve gone on one full tank, just curious boys… let me know!! I get about 400 miles per tank driving 90% local roads. I do better driving highway miles & worse in the winter months, likely due to the winter gas blends.

 

I get 350 to 400 per tank here on the Washington state coast

 

When I first got it I read a thread about running 89 to get a little more pep and better gas mileage so I tried it over the course of 2 full tanks. If I run 87 I get about 320-350. If I run 89 I get about another 40-50 miles a tank. But the price difference isn’t worth it in my opinion.

I get about 320-350 in Ohio; mostly flat terrain though; I go about 4-5 miles over the speed limit usually; my avg MPG is usually around 19.5; I do 2 days of 40 mile highway drives and the rest is local stuff; I also use cruise in the city as I am usually on the road for work when other people aren't. that keeps me from unnecessary gunning and stomping on the pedal. I have never tried anythign other than 87 in it

 

I usually average 410 - 420 out of tank (19.8 -20.8MPG). I drive like a grandpa though. I accelerate kind of slow and rarely go over 65MPH. Also, 95% of my driving is highway. When I commute to work, I'm able to set the cruise control @ 65MPH and then drive.

The most I have ever gotten out of a tank was somewhere around 460miles.

Oh, and I always use 87 octane. Using higher octanes does nothing to help my MPG's. I'm also running a 4x4 V6 with stock 275/16 tires. No lift, aside from the factory lift.

 

I average about 200-250 miles per tank. My truck has a slight lift though (spacers) and 33" tires. I drive like a grandma 99% of the time and I average like 12-13 MPG. Non tuned. 2021 Trail edition, 4x4 (although its rarely used), v6, DCSB. Also, for what its worth, I only run 91. The truck has never seen 87 or 89. Only 91.

Wow, I’m impressed at the number of members getting 400+ miles/tank (640+km). We just got into a ‘22 TRD OR DCSB from our ‘07 TRD SP DCLB and were honestly expecting to see the same mileage (450-500km/tank). If we get an extra 150km a tank I’ll be amped. It’ll drop when the new tires and summer camping setup is thrown on but it sounds like we could be in for the same mileage as our old Taco, but with heavier tires and more of a load.

 

I’m amazed as well by the amount of people who get upwards of 350 miles per tank. I also drive an 07 with the 4.0 and it’s gets about 320 to a full tank

 

I never allow my tank to get below 1/4 tank, and most of the time I fill it up when it gets to around 1/2 tank. If I were to run the tank completely to the E mark I believe I would get an average of between 340 to 360 miles on a tank. I mostly drive it in town in traffic. I have seen a fairly noticeable drop in my gas mileage in colder weather, but still will get north of 300 miles on a tank if it went to E.

 

Well I live at 5400-plus feet and average 250 per tank.

 

I'm sure it's somewhere in the previous 168 pages of this thread, but if you can roll your windows down without turning on the engine by double tapping the start button with your foot off the brake and then hitting the down button for the appropriate window(s).

 

That is correct. Just did that yesterday when I picked up my new Tacoma and the sales guy went over all the electronic stuff and synched my phone.

 

All Toyota products do that, that are push start even my wife's Camry does it.

 

Usually in the 350-400 range just put on new Nitto 33's expecting a bit of a drop.

 

Your dash is going to display a more significant drop than you're actually going to have. You have to calibrate the speedometer to the bigger tires or everything is going to be off.

 

Yep already done. Now just to see what the result is.

 

Anybody have any idea what could cause this? I have a Pioneer NEX4400 with a front camera and I’ve checked all the wiring, no issues there. This happens randomly
