Muth Mirror w/heating element

4 terminals? interesting - do you have a wiring diagram of how the fogs are wired? how is the stock switch with the kit wired - 1 ground and 2 12V (1 for the light)?

 

Don't have a wiring diagram. The fog light switch lights when the lights are on and dims with the rest of the lights, plus works the fog lights on/off. Without a diagram it work be hard to trace the wiring. Not sure it a Toyota dealer would be helpful.

 

i found a wiring diagram online and found the fog wiring but i'll have to study it more to determine exactly how it works. i'll also take a look at the fog light mod on here for insight

it might shed some light on how to use that switch. i don't have the kit so i can't help any further but if you post or send the wiring instructions from the heated kit i can take a look

 

Thanks for the help. Checked out the link and it had the wiring instructions for the 4 prong switch. I need to look at the wiring diagram for the heating module and see if I can get it to work. My only concern is if I hook it up wrong I might blow out the heating relay.

Want to finish this thread I started. I finallly completed the mirrors install. I had problems with the Tacoma Fog light switch when trying to wire it up for the heated mirrors. So I used the switch that came with the mirrors. I drilled out the center of the blanks and mounted the mirror in the blank. I included a picture of the switch.

 

I type as bad as I talk. What I mean to say is I mounted the switch in the blank, not the mirror.

 

I am installing my Muth mirrors with this toggle fog light switch that you were talking about. You mentioned that you got the old toggle switch to work before you decided to change to the push switch. Do you remember which wires go to which terminals on the toggle switch? Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

 

Was not able to get the stock tiggle switch to work correctly, that is why I switched to the swiitch that came with the mirrors. Not sure if the switch I had was bad, when i tested it i could not get the light to shine very bright anf tthe heating element would not function. I have not found anyone that used the stock switch to power the mirrors. I plan on getting another switch and try it again.

I got myself the Muth mirrors, but would also like a better switch. I see that TRDlarry was looking for the same thing. Did anyone ever find one? I was wondering if a rear window defroster switch from maybe a camry would work. Also, I did find that these Muth mirrors do not use all the factory mounting/stabilization features of the stock mirrors and I find that there are some vibration issues at around 75-80MPH. I suspect that the 2 metal fingers that are on the stock mirrors, need to be somehow integrated inot the Muth mirrors. I may do this at some point, but I'd like to get the mirrors installed and working before I mess with them.

 

I have no vibration issues with my mirrors. I travel the interstate every day back and forth from work at 70 85 mph and have no issues with the mirrors.

 

Aww damn, I completely forgot, I was going to build a system like this ages ago for mine!
