I honestly have no idea! I've heard the DoorDash will keep adding a dollar for every Dasher who declines the request until someone finally does...

Yeah, but gas isn't cheap and most of the orders I get are least $7...

I did one DoorDash order today, after declining this one for obvious reasons...

Took another order from the same Red Lobster, and normally I wouldn't have taken it due to far distance and relatively low order, but it was practically on my way home...

Agreed it's still not great but mile for mile averaged out it isn't as bad as some of the others..

Oddly specific amount; I haven't accepted a standalone order of under $7 in almost a year!

So, one thing I'm noticing a lot of are orders going 10+ miles to a customer's house; That was was the case with the only order I took during my first Dash of the day, an order from Crumbl in Warrington to a customer's house in Lansdale for $12.

I got another order during my second Dash of the day that went from Papa John's in Doylestown to contractor working on a townhouse in New Hope, for $14.

After getting back from New Hope, I got an order from Wendy's for like $13.75; I accepted it and went to pick it up. It was only after picking up the order that I realized it was going Stockton, New Jersey just over fifteen miles away!

I contacted Dasher support and got the order unassigned without issue.

For my readers who don't live in this area (Southeast Pennsylvania, specifically Bucks County), Stockton is a tiny little village located just a little North of Lambertville, but several miles South of Frenchtown.

Apparently, there are no Wendy's locations in New Hope, Pennsylvania; New Hope is just across the river from Lambertville, New Jersey. I rarely go to that specific part of Jersey (Hunterdon County), and am not familiar with it, but I'm pretty sure there is at least one Wendy's in Flemington!

There is also a McDonald's in New Hope; Quite why this guy absolutely had to have Wendy's, I do not know, but as stated above I contacted DoorDash and got the order unassigned. I had a very important appointment with Porter's trainer at 1:30, and taking the order to Stockton would have taken until 1:30; Driving home from Stockton would have taken me another thirty minutes!

This is not the end of saga, either; Keep reading...

My friend Doug also does DoorDash; I had literally just pulled into my driveway when I got this text from Doug!

    791E5BC4-ED23-41A9-AA5B-CA1750BCFF01.jpg

Doug also initially accepted the order not realizing where it was going, and then also had to contact Dasher Support because like me he also couldn't select "I can't do this order" and unassign it himself...

Quite why this guy in Stockton ordered from Wendy's in Doylestown when there are probably Wendy's locations closer to him in his state, I do not know, but I have a feeling he is not going to end up getting the order unless DoorDash really jacks up the base pay or he leaves a far more substantial tip; The payout shown came to less than a dollar per mile!

He'd apparently been bugging the previous owner to sell it to him for 16 years!

This was when I was returning back to Doylestown after delivering the Papa John's order in New Hope; That gray area represents a "zoneless" part of the county where there are not enough orders to justify including it in an "official" zone...

This is incredibly tempting, but this area is closer to the city and far more congested as a result; I also refuse to go into Philly for numerous reasons! As if the out-of-control crime wasn't reason enough, Philly has very few restaurants with public bathrooms, and as per the city's stupid COVID mandates you have to show proof of vaccination to get into restaurants; I am fully vaccinated, but I don't carry the damn vaccine card with me everywhere (never had to), and some restaurants have decided to be even more obnoxious by asking to see photo ID to prove it's your vaccine card! :luvya:

    11A80182-0566-4987-9926-C55FFB9C4958.jpg

I've decided to do Jenkintown, but I'm going to carefully vet orders so I don't inadvertently end up in Philly.

Amazed at all the $3.00 orders they try to foist on you. When I lived in NYC the standard delivery minimum was $15.00 & that was in the last millennium. I was never one to order out anyway as every place was within walking distance. In my old hood it's fairly common for delivery drivers to get robbed at gunpoint. Safer in the suburbs but nevertheless keep your wits about you my man.

The cost of the food has no bearing here; $3 is just the base pay, and people generally leave tips of $5 or more!

I don’t know anything about DoorDash.
And I rarely eat fast food. Not because I thinks it’s bad for you. Mostly because I’m cheap and make sandwiches. I am single. If it weren’t for sandwich meat and wheat bread I’d starve. Lol

I have not had fast food, bread, or pop in at least 10 years.
