The only thing I see is that the spanning load has no where to sit above the door header. They might have to use exterior uprights to hold the load. I am not an architect but that’s what I see.

Yes, well there will be 3 beams and 6 posts. Inside the 2x6 walls probably will triple up. Shop has insulation and reflective cover, so easy. Garage has drywall so I will need to tear that out. Plus the middle beam will need access from master closet upstairs. Fun!

I am in the process of buying two fixer uppers and I don’t know if I’m ready to go through this whole process again, after my last three were sold I thought I was done with flips and rentals. I guess it just feeds my tool addiction so…

how old are your windows you need tint? i thought you had a newer house? Newer windows should have Argon gas in between the glass that dont transfer heat/ cold

Argon just slows the heat/cold transfer. Films add to the reflective properties of windows rejecting a higher percent of infrared and ultraviolet.

I think the wood was so chewed up from so many attempts to get a screw to bite that none of the things I inserted would "grab" with just friction alone. The 5/8 x 48 dowel was $1.50 and I was at the store getting glue anyway, so it wasn't worth my time to keep trying random stuff. I drilled out 5 of the 6 holes, backfilled them with glue & tapped in about 4" of dowel per hole (;))

It's been about 2 days drying now so it should be good to go once I have some time to revisit the project. It's been close to 90° here in SoCal so I need to use this weather & get to painting ASAP.

I'd have just routed the hinges another 3/4" or so and made new screw holes

High end windows usually have additional layers applied during the glass lamination process so most should not need tinting.

Tint is obviously acceptable and beneficial and probably a good added value over full replacement if your windows are newer. (For my home the Previous Owner and builder chose 100 series windows and it shows! Tinting should bring me up to a 300-500 series window class as far as bypass and through heating are concerned.

But then I'd have to do the same to the doors, and that's a lot of Bondo/sanding to do after they were already morticed in the original spots. Had I noticed the frame holes were no good before I morticed the door hinges well then I could've done things differently :bananadead:

Possible to angle the screws at like 30deg as well, but sounds like you got it figured out lol

    Kind of and yes.

House was built in 1996 and I bought it from the original owner in 2016. It's practically new, because it's been remodeled floor to ceiling and throughout the entire outside property as well. You name it it's probably been redone.

Previous owner replaced all the windows with low e models from IWC about 10 years ago. Also, turns out they never were tinted, but they have the appearance of tint. (greenish tinted appearance) Tint guy said over time the argon gas will dissipate and that's why they've faded slightly over the last three years. I'm sure the 110-115 degree summers have accelerated that.

Nevertheless, they're getting tinted this Presidents Day and I can't wait for the added uv protection, shade, privacy and aesthetic upgrade.

Anyone use this? Right angle drill, is this just for fastening or does it work for actual drilling?

I'm interested in where you live now. My house was built in 1999 and I'm the one currently renovating it. Been working on it basically since I moved in a little over 3 years ago. I'm right on the border of Mesa and Apache Junction

Working on shelves for the nursery closet. Got the cleats up today. Gonna have to break out the cardboard and hot glue for a template for the shelves because of course nothing is square. Why would it be

Phoenix, but wishing I was out in the sticks on an acre or two in Carefree or north east Snobsdale.:tumbleweed: It's crazy how expensive real estate has gotten and increased in the last 3-4 years here in AZ.
