Had potted meat on bread as a sandwich or on crackers on occasion when I was growing up. I actually like the taste of it better than pricey Underwood Deviled Ham lol. A well known food in the south and probably other areas years ago.

Being from NY your equivalent poor man’s food is probably blood sausage (hate it lol) or scrapple. closest thing we have in the south to scrapple is livermush which is similar to scrapple in that both use pork scraps but as the name implies also has liver and is far superior.

My family is all from PA and they love scrapple. Fried on a skillet with syrup on top. fucking gag me lol that shit is so gross. Brunschweiger too, which is liverwurst (sausages)

godless heathens, the lot of them!

I have eaten my fair share of potted meat on crackers on backcountry hikes, but I've evolved to salmon and tuna packets now.

I see you’ve never come to appreciate the delightful fine dining of the family lol. Yes, we fry our livermush as well. I like it on biscuits with mustard, the same way as with fried sausage patties. With breakfast mmm so good.
