If I pick up TIG welding right away, I'll be tempted to buy a TIG welder first for the house since I can do all my MIG at work.

I don't have a pic unfortunately, but the closet is like a fork in the road with some super tall area that could fit more than a few full sized clothing items. The other side of the fork could too, it's a big closet, but it is more suited to a dresser really

Take solace in the knowledge that some of us are scraping by with only a 16x24 1.5-car.

It does have a dedicated 100-amp sub-panel though...

One thing this place has that I've literally never seen before is a whole house fan. At the top of the stairs is a massive 2.5' fan that when it's at full speed was able to suck the lightly closed front door back open... Like damn, I'm pretty sure it exorcised the ghosts already. Was pretty refreshing and not loud at all despite its size.

I am excited about the shop, it's got some good room and its own power panel which is nice. Fully insulated as well which a bonus round here. What it will need is a lift! The courtyard is good parking too.

That's how it worked before the days of central AC. Just turn on the attic fan and let it pull in a breeze through some slightly open windows.

    Stuff. Also things.
You’re gonna like that whole house fan. The place that I rented before I met my lady had one and I rarely had to use the AC but for maybe two or three 100+ days. I’d watch for the outside temp to drop below the inside temp in the evenings and crank that bitch up. Most mornings in the summer I’d wake up to 63-65 degrees inside when I’d turn it off, which was awesome. I’d also close all of the blinds and curtains while I was at work which helped a ton too.

Sounds like a home in the southeast before AC. Congrats man!

    Interior relatively updated?

It's nothing fantastic but it's clean and spacious so I can work with it. Probably do little things like cabinets and such.

It looks like there is a nice crawl space under the house. I bet you might find some treasures in the attic and under the crawl space from years gone by.

Yeah its perfectly liveable as is. That kitchen would get rearranged if it were mine, either U-shaped with the stove on the right wall and a big peninsula in the middle, or a big island like Nelson suggested.

I look forward to seeing how you spend your money in the home improvement thread.

Ive found lots of that metal tinsel from the 70's in my attic.

And a complete newspaper from 1980-something jammed in a wall cavity.

I exist in a house TBH, I live in the garage, unless something is really annoying or broken I probably won't change too much about the inside.

We had one of these fans in a house growing up. It made heating the second floor way easier with a wood burning stove. It was also helpful if you filled the house with smoke.
The spinning fan busted off in the middle of the night once and made a lot of noise.
