Vibrations.......not good

As some of you may know, I've been bttling this issue for some time now. Several weeks ago, I stated that Toyota had fixed my vibration problem by placing in a new drive shaft. Well, sorry to say, the vibration came back in a weeks time. To make a very long story short, after battling it out with Toyota corp. and two different toyota dealerships, the end result of this issue is that it is a normal vibration and that all Tacomas have it. The same day that I recieved the verdict, I test drove a brand spanking new '08 Tacoma. Out of my amazement, once when 70 mph was reached, the truck shuddered worst than mine!!! Not only that, while the truck was moving straight down the road, that steering wheel was cocked WAY to the side!!! What the heck is going on here ladies and gents? Where have these trucks gone to that we have fallen so in love with?? They are going to have to come up with a recall on this issue or a fix.

Please let me know your thoughts!!

I am having the TSB dome that adds another leaf spring and also replaces my shocks with new shocks at all corners.

Do ya'll think that this will work??

 

Can someone please tell me where I can read up on this TSB. The leaf springs are for the sagging bed, correct? Whats the deal with the shocks?

I have a PDF of it at work......I will try post it up tomorrow.... or just do a search for "Rear Spring Harsh Ride" TSB. There will be several choices to choose from in executing that search. The TSB # is SU006-07. PreRunners get new leaf springs and new shocks. TRD packages recieve just the additional leaf spring since those have great shocks to start with.

While coming back from Gatlinburg, Tenn. this weekend, I noticed that when I was ging over speed bumps or driving over bumpy roads, the back end would bottom out with a load of just suitcases an other things that you would need while on a lnog vacation.

Has anyone tried to place in a single drive shaft rther that the stock dual drivemlne? I hear that this will help the steering wheel shudder in both stock tacomas and also lifted ones. I have a 4 door tacoma and hear that the dual drive shaft is give people problems.......anyone here of this?

 

It almosts sounds as if there may be an alignment issue. Have you had everything checked, balanced, aligned?

 

I have had the wheels road force balanced and the alignment done both by my local dealership. I am have the leafspring TSB done as soon as the dealership gets that prts in. i doing so, they'll have to do an alignment. Maybe this will help......thanks for the reply.

 

Vibration in the glove department. Hopefully getting it fix after the TSB on the clutch & suspension

 

They just ordered the parts for my TRD suspension TSB. In addition to an extra leaf they are adding stronger coils, but just for the rear. The only thing they do to the front end when you have TRD is to do an alignment.

 

My 1999 Tacoma runs a bit rough over 75. acts like it is just geared too low for higher speeds. I obviously realize it's not a sports car but I hope this is normal.

I love this truck even though it is stock and I even took out the K&N filter after the milage went from 22 to 14mpg because of oil getting on the air intake sensor. quick easy and cheap fix. Hesitant to replace K&N filter.

I just filled it with Amzoil and hoping I can skip a few oil changes. Any opinions, normally every 3000 and filter every 6000.

 

So how did you go about arranging this. Did you just walk in and tell them about the TSB or did you walk in and complain that your bed was sagging, etc. I heard that if you walk in and just mention the TSB without complaining about problems , they will do nothing.

For the record, I have about 500 miles on my 08 Taco and I haven't noticed the vibration issue yet. I am sensitive to motion sickness and I am sure my sensor array will detect it early on...

I just told them that my truck was bottoming out every time I hit a bump with only 600-800 lbs of stuff in the bed. I haven't really tested this, but the ride is a bit rough when I am loaded up. Besides SR5s get upgraded to Bilstein shocks, so... Yeah, I am going to make sure that I get the best for my Tacoma.

 

I called the service dept and just asked them to pull up the TSB for suspension. I waited a few minutes, after he had it up i told him mine was an 07 and bottoms out over speed bumps with only 500lbs in the bed and i wanted the upgrade. it took him a few minutes to check the TSB since he had never looked at it before and he agreed that my year and model was applicable and said he'd order the parts. He put my order in the computer before i even hung up the phone with him. Easiest thing in the world. So far my dealer has been very good with me.

 

I walk in cause my clutch was squeaking & the glove department was making noise. I told them how the car suspension was bottoming out. (they have no clue... their like wait what bottom out? you should had gotten the TRD it has better suspension.) Then i told them yeah is there any TSB... they check it and it was good to go. :]
