Yea. You need a TIG machine capable of AC TIG. There's a couple at HF that I've heard good things about. But still looking for a decent used machine to save a little money.

 

Yup. All of the multi-process welders I've seen only do DC TIG though. And there are some bottom bin welders on Amazon that only do DC.

 

I'd get something like an Everlast 185 over either of those. I think they're like $750 shipped or thereabouts.

I have an Everlast machine and love it, and apparently their customer service/warranty is fantastic, but I haven't needed to explore that avenue knock on wood.

 

Does is have HF start or only lift start?

Yup. Also has balance/frequency adjustments which would be nice for aluminum. IIRC you have to pay extra for the pedal, but still a really great deal.

Awesome! I’m glad someone can use them. I hated the idea of chucking them out and there’s not much of a market to sell them I’m in Lancaster, Pa, I’m guessing the first leg will probably go from me to one of the folks closer to Philly/NJ.

made from aluminum painted black, i know for sure it holds the boating uv5r and im assuming anything like that. uses ram mount on the back with 2 screws (doesn't come with the ball)loop side of velcro i had laying around the cushion the mic and radio from aluminum body

Related unrelated question, do you have any luck with that hand mic? Mine is super quiet, I can barely hear it let alone with road noise or radio on, there was no chance of me hearing a damn thing.
