Has anyone use these puppies on the trucks?

I air down frequently as I'm on the beach about every weekend from Spring to Fall and hate spending time deflating my tires. I currently use some screw on deflators that work well, but these look like I could down my air down time to about a minute total.

I was curious if anyone has any real world experience with them and could offer a review.

I did have a question about their chuck compatibility section. I can't imagine they require a special chuck to inflate, but they have 4 types listed. I'm curious if those chucks are for rapid inflation instead of standard.

Ive heard they work well. But best practice is still doing one tire at a time. They let down FAST. Turn your back to long and your wheel will be on the ground.

 

They aren't, they sell adapters that require you to cut up the TPMS sensors to fit. Not a deal breaker, but brings the cost up to about $150 for a set of 4.

 

Yea, I think I saw it will take a 37 from 30psi to 15psi I'm about 14sec. My skinny 33s will be super quick

I already have to go around to each tire to add a deflator and then wait. So going one by one, for a few seconds each, would be much quicker.

 

I ended up getting a set for Christmas and just had them installed. Have yet to test them as we haven't made a trip to the beach, but fishing season isn't too far off so I'll report back.

I did have some trouble with the shop installing them. Had to take the truck back x2 and have them reseated as they kept leaking. The shop did get them set correctly and from the brief usage I've had of overfilling and then bleeding them to get to my desired pressures these things are insanely quick.

I have some Amazon knock offs and they worked great. They would still take about 5mins or so to air down from 40 to 18/20.

was always paranoid an aftermarket might not be reliable and air down to the correct pressure but it’s probably not hard to copy the design (spring, etc) and if yours works well then that’s a good deal

ViAir 88P compressor is pretty vague
Like if I try to air them back up to 29psi door spec cold / +4? Hot psi (1+ mile driving) = 33psi on all 4, the ViAir gauge is not accurate enough to get exactly that and would need adjusting later

 

@Chase8059 have a good chance to use these yet? any issues with the TPMS adapter? looking at buying a couple sets for myself

 

Yes, the deflate time for me (255/80r17) from 35 to 18 is about 6sec per tire. I probably spend more time unscrewing the cap and then screwing it back on then actually deflating.

My local tire shop didn't want to touch these because of the TPMS work but I found another shop that does more general work and they had no issue. So far I haven't had an issue with TPMS and I'm really happy with how fast these deflate.

Even the fiance noted how quickly I can air down when we go to the beach which is about every weekend.

Bringing this thread back with another follow-up. It sounds like you took the factory TPMS and cut the stems off along with the Apex OEM adapter kit? Or did you get new TPMS that bolt to the standard RPV?

 

Correct, you have to remove a few mm from your factory TPMS stems to get them to work with the adapter kit. Apex designs sends out the instructions with the TPMS adapter kit. I could have done it, but I don't have the equipment to remove and reseat my tire and rim so I had a shop do it.

 

Bumping an old thread here but it's really the only thread on the RPV's. I just had these installed and they work great. I opted to waste an extra $100 and buy some Schrader EZ-Sensor 33500 TPMS and had the shop clone my stock ones because I didn't want to fuck around with shaving them.

 

Thanks for bumping it, I forgot to follow up after getting mine installed. These things frigging rock! Skinny 33s from ~35 psi down to about 20 in roughly 10 seconds

I opted to waste even more money by getting the Schrader / Ateq S41 programmer tool so now I can do all my own TPMS

 

Would they still be worth it if you owned a set of stauns that did the job good enough? Still kicking around the idea of picking some up.

I've had the RPVs for a while now and def one of my top 5 mods. I go from 35 -> 15psi in about 10 seconds with my 285s. I really like that you can attach a gauge to watch the psi drop in live time.

 

I've been running these with my racelines since I installed them several years ago, and they are by far one of the best and most used mods I have ever made. Not only super fast and convenient to air down, but they also aid in fast air ups due to the unrestricted flow.

And they are somewhat local to me, so that seemed like a win win to support local when it makes sense.
