22' Tacoma missing parts from factory

hello, I recently took order of my 2022 TRD off road and ordered it with the premium audio that includes the sub and amp (all shown on the window sticker). once i got my truck everything was great except the fact that my rear speakers dont work and the sub and amp where never installed... I contacted the dealer I got the truck from and they escalated the issue to Toyota corporate. Toyota ended up claiming it was a mistake and they would honor it and then they said the tuck doesn't come with the audio system and it was a misprint on the window sticker and im out of luck even tho i paid for the premium audio. has anyone else had this issue? with their tacoma not coming with the speaker in the rear (its behind the rear passenger seat) i own a 2022 tacoma TRD offroad with the 6 speed manual in lunar rock. if the dealership or toyota dont give me a response i am considering a class action.... unfortunately ill have to go that route since its been 2 months and no one is giving me an answer.t thank you.

Premium audio is not JBL. JBL was never available with the manual.

I don’t know where you saw that the premium audio comes with a sub, but it never has. The premium basically refers to the better head unit. The stock HU is heavily biased towards the front, so it’s no shock it sounds like there is no audio out of the back doors.

 

From what I understand manuals don’t come with the premium audio (as in the JBL) package. Not even an option.

 

Does your sticker show "Premium JBL"? Mine does (did), and my truck has the sub behind the rear passenger seat.

EDIT: I didn't read that yours is a manual. Disregard!

 

Maybe post a pic of your window sticker, so others with the same exact model (with a manual) can tell you if their’s says the same thing. That would at least help to prove whether it was a misprint by Toyota (and if you were charged for something that isn’t actually available), or if maybe you misunderstood what it is you were supposed to get.

 

The Premium Audio package on the manuals does not include the JBL package and doesn't have the subwoofer.

 

this is the window sticker. correct me if im wrong but if it never came with the premium audio does this mean i paid for it since its all listed on the sticke.
also I asked toyota for a report of the so called investigation they opened and a copy of the report of them telling me it is s mistake, and they sent a picture of the same window sticker print out without the wording of a sub and amp.

That's just the generic print out and is wrong. You paid the correct price for the package, JBL is not included for the manual transmissions for whatever reason.

 

the rear speakers also virtually have no sound coming even when i change the balance and fader towards the rear? is this also a common thing. ive only ever driven a 2017 trd sport A/T with the sub in the back

 

False advisement, tell them they owe you

 

It's because you have a manual transmission. The manual transmission does NOT have the Premium JBL. I researched things religiously. Having been without a truck for almost two months, I learned a lot about the packages and options and everything in between.

Generic print out or not, if that’s what’s displayed on the window sticker when purchased, with the specific vehicle VIN listed, the buyer should expect to get it.

Completely unacceptable and is absolutely a misrepresentation of what is being sold.

Negligence is the only reasonable explanation of why something like this would be an issue.

 

I wonder if OP has a case? Normally I'm in the camp of "nuisance lawsuits suck" but the Monroney is pretty clear here that a subwoofer is included. Is there a YMMV disclaimer on the window sticker itself? If not I'm in agreement that this might be worth pursuing.

 

thats what im saying, false advertisement of the truck and that was one of the selling points. i was told it would have a sub. upon contacting the dealership they would order me a speaker then they said they would write me a check so theyve just been tossing me back and fourth.

 

I'm not certain. I have an access cab manual with premium audio and the rear speakers are not doing much but the sound in a few friend's trucks with JBL premium audio (automatics) seems better.

What are they going to owe him? The system is not or cannot be installed on a manual for whatever reason. The price paid is the correct price for the otions package and the options packages for the truck explicitly say it is not included with a manual other than on the window sticker. Some responsibility has to rest on the buyer to ensure that what they are signing on the line to pay for is what they expect to receive.

 

Push for a check, use that money towards a better sound system.

 

The bottom line is, your window sticker says the truck comes with items that it did not come with. There’s no getting around that. You’re not required to know what is supposed to come with every model and configuration, only what the sticker says on the vehicle that you paid for. Honest mistake or not, it’s Toyota’s legal responsibility to correct their mistake. You have them by the balls, so I would not stop until they either install those things or give you some money back.
