What kind of bird/parrot do you have? I used to have Cockatiels years ago and one of family members has an adopted African Grey Parrot. It's very smart, but unfortunately whoever had it before taught it just about every bad word. It's always talking in the background during phone calls.:D

It's my gf's haha; it's a cockatiel. She's a girl though so doesn't really repeat things as much as the males unfortunately

Got mine finished today and working like a charm. I had portable room units in the past and they work OK, but it seems they only really affect the room they are in. This 500M was $139 off Amazon and had it in 2 days. Then you need a few pieces of 6" duct, some 1/2" clear drain hose, hose clamp, sheet metal screws, 1/4" soft copper tubing, duct sealant, and thermostat wire. Now it is permanent, don't have to fill a water tank every day, and is feeding the entire house evenly. They say it takes a few days to stable out due to all the furniture and carpet in the house being dry.

You're most likely not going to get one coat coverage (even with primer) with Ben, Regal Select maybe. Ben is just a hyped up UltraSpec. I sold Benjamin Moore for years and was around when they switched to all the new Gennex tint paints. What I would recommend is the paint store tint a primer, just the UltraSpec 500 primer tinted will suffice in this case. Any person that mixes paint that tells you it can't be done, hasn't done it for long. We would shake up the primer and dip out the amount of primer that was needing to be tinted. Then we fooled the computer by scanning the actual paint product, but dispensed it in the primer can. Works well.

I'll be using the UltraSpec paint in my new home. We don't have high traffic of kids around, so it's perfect and affordable.

Aura is friggin' awesome! However, have you tried Advance for trim? I have grown to love it just the little I've used it. I have an entire house worth of trim I have to prime and paint. Advance is definitely gonna be my topcoat.

Our contractor started finishing about 1400 sq ft in our basement this week. Our house is a ranch so if you split the basement down the middle where the main support beam runs we'll have two bedrooms and a large unfinished space on the back side of the house and the front half of the house will be wide open...will be a large family room and rec room and a small utility closet in a corner that houses the electric panel and sewer clean-out. Also insulating the ceiling for noise reduction. Won't be soundproof but it should help cut down some noise from my 15 year old son and his friends.

On my next house sound reduction is definitely something I'm keeping in mind. Seems mass loaded vinyl is really good for under floors and walls, I think it would a lot of work to do a ceiling though. Looks like your contractors are doing a good job! appreciate the cleanliness.

Problem is MLV is probably more costly than just increasing your stud cavity fill by 2" and using mineral wool

I'm a licensed painter with over 35 years of experience.

Paint is manufactured to be applied at a specific thickness providing maximum protection to the substrate it's applied on. Please never plan on applying only one coat of finish paint it will not achieve maximum protection for the substrate. If you're changing color, you may need to apply more than two coats to cover the old color. I always advise customers is use the best product you can afford and apply it properly for the best result. You're taking time, money to improve the most expensive thing you'll own (Your home), do it right the first time and you'll benefit in the long haul.

In my opinion any B&M paint product is the go to for quality results.

On today's episode of nasty things in Delta's "new" house, the filter for the cistern...

This is supposed to be white... The smell was awesome as well.

Only flushed 5 gallons through it as it's cold outside, but there's some nasty funk still in the system. The filter is already catching crap in just 5 gallons.

I will say the pressure is excellent on this system, even with an external pump and small pressure tank. Should handle my small pressure washer fine.

^this - tint the primer for the win!^

A contractor friend taught me this one. Have the store tint the primer at 75% of what the finished color will be. Then when you put the top coat on you can see what you've missed and the tinted primer goes a long way to covering the previous color.

for the dryer vent, so the flex attachment doesn't get kinked
being that high I'm assuming a stacked set

Okay. That's kinda what I was thinking what with the taps to the right but the space looked to tight for both but stacked set makes more sense.
