He did last year. But this year he didn’t. He got greedy. I think it’s awesome he just places huge bets on a betting app after driving over the border to Louisiana. You’d think he’d have a direct line to Vegas.

 

I was just reading he hedged his bet by having a super bowl promotion at his furniture store. He said if the bengals win your furniture is free. He sold $20 million worth.

 

Yea, he used the bengals bet as insurance basically. So he probably ends up break even or something.

 

and he definitely took out promotion insurance, so even if the store had to do refunds, it's not all out of his pocket.

 

I think the cost of that insurance would be more costly than just betting the game like he did.

What these guys do this they take an insurance policy on it . Just like at a golf outing when they give a car for a hole in one. They buy an insurance policy for a couple grand.

 

If he was trying to offset 15 million in cost of giveaways, 10 million money line does it. He’d have to bet about 18 million to offset that 15 million with the spread. Hindsight and all that, but before the game, I understand his thought process.

 

Yea, insurance for a $50k car in a 12,000 to 1 long shot is doable. Insurance on a $20 million dollar payout on this near coin flip scenario, not gonna be cheap

Id like to give away 20 million if this coin comes up heads 6 out of 10 times. How much to insure against that?

That’s what he did with his bet on the bengals. He was gonna get 12 million or so after taxes. I’m saying the insurance company wouldn’t give him as good of “odds” as the casino did.

I just thought he was a relatively rich (probably is) who made a bet, took the points. More complex than that, so my above comments - retract retract!!
