I had a 76, it was quite quiet but all stock too. If you are running Flowmasters, etc that is a big challenge to keep the interior noise down.

So the truck is back together. Man, it was a colossal PITA, but the results are certainly worth the hassle. The level of quiet is pretty amazing compared to stock. If I had it to do over again I would not have used quite as thick of material in the floorboard; that was a major BITCH to reassemble - and some of the floor-to-door transition pieces simply will not fit correctly with that much bulk under the stock carpeting. I had to trim the outer edges of the OEM floor padding in order to get the carpet to sit low enough to at least get a partial fitment for the floor transition pieces to snap in. I considered drilling a few more holes and then gluing in a 2 or 3 of those push-lock snaps (like the door panels use) in order to achieve a more robust engagement of the trim strips, but didn't want any more holes in the floor that would invite rust later on.

    Some pics of the procedure...

These are the tools I used to press the initial butyl layer into place. Worked far better than the roller. The top wider tool for larger sections, the middle one mostly because the bottom was smooth and wide with no sharp edges; perfect for pressing material into cracks ans under sections. The littlest tool for smaller, hard to reach areas.

And I used the pool noodle trick suggested by Scottyskywalker. Only diff there was that I pressed the noodle up higher in the middle, to hopefully promote better drainage and prevent any water from accumulating and possibly causing rust around it later on. But yes, it DOES make a difference on the amount of tire/road noise sneaking in through those equalization air vents in the back wall of the cab.

A difference I see between the Access cab and the Double cab is the location of those rear wall air vents. In the pictures of this thread I do not see any for the Double cab. Where are they?

Thanks for the info. Mine wasn't equipped w/blind spot sensors. Must be a case of the same wiring harness for all models; some just don't use every hook up.

Did you get any more information on this one?

For context - I pulled my passenger seat to set up a sleeping platform. I had it out from Feb 2021 to about November 2021, I put it back in for inspection (can't pass safety inspection with an airbag light on, shenanigans). I was expecting to need to go into Techstream, I read up a bit on re-calibrating the airbag/SOS on the passenger seat when you pull it. Doesn't seem bad, I think just go in, hit go, drop a weight on it, hit a button, and it's done (50KG weight I think).

Anyway, I plugged it in and the airbag light went away. I had my battery plugged in the whole time (for removal and install...woops). I THINK I pulled either the positive or negative within that timeframe for something, can't really remember, but either way - was curious if you have more details on what your light was for and what caused it, since mine went away. Just something to know in case it doesn't go away next time.

Does this actually make a significant difference ?

    Sorry, YES!

I pulled ALL passenger seat wiring connections apart when the battery was unhooked and applied a thin coat of dielectric grease, then hooked everything back up. Problem solved! not sure what was going on, but it worked and that's all that mattered.

Another delayed response... but it definitely does, especially with the slider window open! My only change to the concept as originally suggested was that I pushed the center of the pool noodle up a bit more so it sits higher in the middle than the outside ends, so no water or debris would collect in the center, hopefully eliminating any rust potential. (I also saturated the entire noodle with WD40. Made it easier to maneuver ...and that should also help with eliminating rust spotting - on either the cab or bed side where the noodle sits.)

Cool - glad it worked out! And that falls in line with what I saw too, must have been something missing a contact somewhere for you. Sounds like it's a okay now though.
