The locking mechanism is fucked up; One of the guys working for my mechanic had to help me get it shut...

This door will not be opened again until it's at the body shop getting fixed!

Currently got 145K miles on it; Carfax last reported odometer reading was almost 139K and the Carfax value is just shy of $12K. Truck also has a brand new frame courtesy of Toyota.

    Sorry to see this man.

Glad nobody was hurt; things can always be fixed or replaced, people not so much.

Yeah damage looks to be contained to the door shell and bedside, figure less than $3000 to replace both panels and paint. Good thing about the 2nd/3rd gen Tacoma is the bedsides are more or less bolt-on, with no need to cut large swaths of welded seams like with a full steel bed.

Were you hauling personal scrap or scrap for work?

This was personal, but for obvious reasons I will be using company vehicles from now on when hauling scrap for work!

Good idea, that was going to be my recommendation. No sense of putting extra miles and wear on your vehicle. Somethings things like this are beyond your control. The extra risk just simply isn’t worth it

I mean the locking mechanism is messed up; Also, the window obviously won't roll down all the way...

Good thing that (A) my A/C works good, and (B) it's winter!

I used to think nothing of it since the scrap place is so close to work; I showed the pictures to the CEO of the company I work for, and he said the company would have written a check for anything the scrap place didn't cover if it happened while I was on the clock.

The dent may be pressing on an actuating rod or cable inside the door. The deformation might have shifted the latch position relative to the striker just enough to cause sticking issues. When the body shop installs the new door, the tech will need to adjust the hinges and latches per FSM so everything engages nicely.

My body guy is gonna be able to save the rear fender; I honestly don't care how much the door costs because this wasn't my fault and I am not paying for it!

I'm sure they will get you a clean door from a salvage yard and respray the entire passenger side.
