I was 27.3 in my town, but I'm right next door to the Jackpot in Stoughton. Yuck!

I want to do cross-country trips in mine: to fly-fish the Allagash country and the West Branch in Maine this spring. I'm retiring. I've been doing "test cross-country" (short) trips in it since I bought it in July. You have to be able to trust your vehicle up there. It can be awhile if you break down up there. I trust my boys' F150 when I borrow it, but enough is enough. It's his. What I have going for me is I think my Tacoma likes hot weather better than cold weather. Lol We'll see!

Glad to hear it's doing so well on original fluid. Do you haul heavy loads in the bed much, say 1000+ lbs or tow trailers?

If I ever haul anything, its firewood from one part of my property to the other. Towed a log splitter a few months back, too. Not much towing.

I had a 2005 with 260,000 miles. Head gasket went out, wheel bearing went out, water pump went out, drive shaft replaced. At the end, it would make a knocking sound when cold. Didn’t trust it. Traded in for 2022.

    That's a pretty good run.

I just found out this frame barcode sticker is from the factory in 2005. 174K miles.

Take care of it, it won't let you down. Same old story.

Seems like a decent deal provided the frame rust is not excessive

My 2012 has 175k on the clock. Routine oil changes with mobil 1 and have done all the diffrentials a few times. Only maintenence issues have been passenger side CVJ, AC hose replace and recharge, lots of tires and a set of brake pads. And a few sets of headlight bulbs. The front and rear shocks, coils, leafs have been replaced due to personal preference. Im sure this gal is headed for 300k no problem.

Aside from leaking rear-axle seals, my old gurl has ran like a clock for years with just reg maintenance.

We’re at the beginning of our journey with just 52,000 miles. In theory this truck should run as long as parts are available, and as long as i move out of NY State (road salt here is like daily driving to work through the ocean). My dad once told me “everything mechanical can be repaired or replaced, but rust is death machines.”
We’ll do everything in our power to make this truck last forever. I’m sick of having throw away vehicles. Is that not a thing where the weather is good, and the salt trucks don’t exist?

not that big a deal…..rinse the undercarriage every now and then and undercoat once a year. Frame will outlast most posters if those two things happen.

361,363 miles as of this writing. Original motor blew a head gasket at around 238,000, months after getting the truck back with a new frame. Aside from replacing the motor, this truck has really only cost me maintenance. Brakes, shocks, tune-ups, tires. And a rear wheel bearing.

Take care of it, and it will last a very long time.

The nice part about Tacoma World is it’s an active community. Think of the craziest thing you want to do to your truck and someone here knows how or has done it.
This has saved me thousands in maintenance costs. Simple write ups from spark plugs to brakes.

Also this damn site encourages me to spend some money in mods too…
